Job Title: Accounting SupervisorReports To: ControllerDepartment: FinanceLocation: Channelview, TXFLSA Status: ExemptApproved By: CFOApproved Date: 5/24/2021POSITION SUMMARY & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESWe are currently sourcing a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Accounting Supervisor.

As the accounting supervisor you will support the Controller in maintaining the general ledger and its supporting processes as well as the internal controls to ensure consistent and accurate recording of financial information and the timely closing and production of the monthly financial statements.The accounting supervisor is responsible for the day to day accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts payable, ledger maintenance, revenue, sales tax, and asset accounting as well as the associated analysis and reporting.

Works closely with the shared services team lead to oversee the calculation, posting, and verification of financial and statistical records.

Maintains the integrity of accounting records by ensuring compliance with organization accounting policies and procedures.The successful candidate for this role drives continuous improvement of the key processes impacting the company’s financial systems, financial statements, accounting policies and procedures and operations.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate and conduct month end close activities for multiple entities, including the preparation and review of journal entries and account analysis.Coordinate the preparation and review of the general ledger account reconciliations including the appropriate adjustments and accruals.Ownership of the Sales Tax Process including the collection & filing requirements, GL reconciliation and ensure proper application of adjustments, tax return review & approval in the Avalara system.Ownership of the Fixed Asset & CIP process including the tracking, reconciliation, and reporting, including CIP execution vs budget and forecast and maintenance of the sub-ledger for GAAP & Tax booksComplete payroll data analysis, oversee and review payroll journal entries.Works closely with the Controller in establishing and maintaining the Company’s internal controls, prepares required documentation and perform occasional testing and review of internal or key controls.Prepare various schedules required for internal and external reporting on a GAAP, statutory and management reporting basis.Perform accounting research and complete accounting memos to support accounting transactions.Completes audit schedules required by external and internal auditors.Ad hoc requests from senior management and additional responsibilities as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting or finance.ExperienceMinimum of 5-7 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in accounting.Other RequirementsSolid understanding of GAAP.Major ERP systems experience.Advanced or expert level Excel skills.Ability to grasp and retain new concepts quickly.Strong organization, attention to detail and analytical skills.Proven ability to identify areas where process improvements will add value.Proven track record of researching and solving problems with minimal supervision.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.Strong communication and people management skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperiencePrior experience in a manufacturing environmentPrevious experience with Syteline ERPPrevious experience with Planful, Avalara or Paycor systemsProject management experienceCPA certificationDISCLAIMERThis job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
