Director, Research Operations Finance (FT), Office of Research Operations

This is a Full-time position in Austin, TX posted July 28, 2021.

Provide oversight, direction, strategic management, fiscal & accounting management, and strategy for all research financial teams across the Office of Research Operations at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (D-HH).

Responsible for completing all research financial tasks and directing all activities, managing all research financial staff and providing results.

Responsible for leading and directing the integrations of all research including overseeing and/or directing clinical research finance post award and budgeting, the central D-HH Sponsored Project Administration Office, Divisional Research Administrators, all grants and contracts pre and post award management, and ORO administrative budgets.

Responsibilities Advises on strategic areas of needs for research administration finance, clinical trials finance, and grants and all contracts financial management and administration.

Partners with appropriate stakeholders across the institution on research financial planning goals, strategic initiatives, and research growth.

Oversees business processes in partnership with appropriate staff on research cash management, research accounting, research financial systems, research F&A and fringe calculations, research Internal budgeting and reporting, clinical research reporting, Central Sponsored Projects Administration Office, and research and non-research related grant and contracts coordination, and financial reporting Oversees the post-award focused staff in Grants Administration on effort reporting and audit oversight.

Serves as the central point of contact for the A-133 audit and other outside audits.

Leads and/or partners on all research-related aspects of audits and financial statements (monthly & annual).

Responsible for Uniform Guidance and other research financial policy development and dissemination.

Evaluates research financial organizational structures, business processes, update and draft policies and determine training and education needs for research financial staff.

Serves as the Authorized Organizational Representative for grant submissions and signatures.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Business Administration/Finance/Health Care Administration/Accounting with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with State and Federal grants activities, clinical research pre and post award management and/or central sponsored office oversight/management required, CPA and/or Certified Research Administrator preferred Ability to provide subject matter expertise in not-for-profit and research accounting, research financials & budgeting, grants central office and departmental grants and contracts management, clinical research pre and post award management, state and federal regulations relating to all research financial units across an academic health system Comprehensive technical knowledge base of Federal OMB Circular A-133 and Uniform Guidance “Omni Circular” Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to actively and professionally interact with all levels within the organization.

Able to work independently within a fast-paced environment requiring continual improvement, create integration of research teams supporting many areas of finance across the organization and successfully lead research financial strategic initiatives and projects
