Payroll Accounting Specialist

Beacon Resources, in partnership with our client in Pasadena, California, seeks a talented Payroll Accounting Specialist on a direct hire basis.

– The hired Payroll Accounting Specialist will perform numerous month-end closing accounting activities (journal entries, accruals, adjustments, etc.) and calculating bonus payments to determine compensation of each employee.

You will report to a Compensation Director.

– Starting salary range begins at $85,000/year and increases depending on qualifications.

This role is a non-exempt role, so total compensation excluding bonuses is estimated to be $10,000 more.

PAYROLL ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST DUTIESPayroll ProcessingReview and process payrolls for the company’s United States divisionsMaintain the payroll process by directing the collection, calculation, data entry, review, and payroll approvalEnsure accuracy of all timekeeping, including PTO and Sick Day requestsProcess wage garnishments, PTO, attendance, and all other payroll tasksProvide all reports as requested by management (labor, overtime, leave of absence, headcount, etc.)Work with the Accounting Department to ensure payroll accuracyAssist with all employee contributions (401K) plansHire and train payroll personnel if neededPayroll AccountingPrepare journal entries for bi-weekly payroll, payroll taxes, and benefits for month-end closePrepare journal entries for vacation and bonus accruals as well as payroll allocationsReconcile general ledger accounts to ADP payroll and Fidelity equity compensation recordsPrepare monthly bank reconciliation and related journal entries for payroll and benefit accountsPayroll BudgetingAssist with the annual budgeting process of property management payroll allocationPrepare payroll variance analysisPrepare funding requests for all payroll, dividends, and benefits issuesFinancial ReportingAssist with the Technical Accounting research relating to payroll and equity compensation accountingSupport Financial Reporting team in preparing dataAssist with the annual preparation of Deferred Compensation Plan statements and packages for Executive Management, tracking investments and distributions for Venture Investment Plan (VIP), and preparing calculations for Form D filingAssist with internal and external audit requests as well as ad-hoc requests from regional teams and/or special projectsCompensation AccountingCalculate commission statementsPrepare bonus calculations for all professionalsTrack vesting period of stocks for each applicable employeeCommunicate with various offices to gather relevant financial dataExplain commission statements as neededMiscellaneousPrepare audit reports for internal and external auditsAccept other ad hoc accounting tasks, as needed PAYROLL ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONSRequiredAt least three (3) years of Payroll Accounting experiencePayroll processing experience at a company with at least five hundred (500) employees PreferredBachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or equivalent work experienceCertified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), and/or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation PAYROLL ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST SKILLSRequiredTechnicalExpert-level Excel proficiency (v-lookups, pivot tables, MACROS, et.
