Senior Financial Analyst

The Senior Financial Analyst will create reporting to translate data into meaningful information to facilitate tactical and strategic decision-making.

The Candidate must be comfortable working with large data sets to identify trends and KPI drivers.

Duties include planning and forecasting, variance analysis and ad hoc requests.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Build, maintain and calibrate business models to facilitate effective planning, analysis and decision making throughout the organization.

Identify key financial drivers and assumptions within a business process, structure the identified drivers to tell a story, and develop a financial model to be used for planning purposes.

Aggregate and organize financial data from multiple platforms and systems; suggest procedural changes to increase the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency of models and reports used or produced by the team.

Prepare presentations which summarize results of financial analysis and model outputs, suitable for multiple audiences in Kemper Health.

Document work processes, including data sources and definitions to help ensure data accuracy.

Frequently interact and coordinate with other departments to address business issues and to meet organizational objectives.

Interpret data and identify trends to help leadership understand drivers of results, make decisions, and develop strategy.

Develop new reports and models to drive key leadership insights into business performance.

Proven track record of improving processes and creating efficiencies to help reduce manual data collection.

Work collaboratively with people in the organization to gather information, take ownership of deliverables, and meet deadlines.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 3 years of corporate finance, analysis, or accounting experience.

Insurance experience is preferred.

A Bachelor’s degree in finance, statistics, business, accounting, economics, or equivalent Strong knowledge of financial statements (income statements, balance sheets and cash flows).

Understanding of differences between GAAP and STAT.

Prefer knowledge of insurance products and distribution.

Understanding of insurance concepts.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS: Advanced Excel skills required.

Intermediate skills in Workday, Adaptive, SQL or Tableau preferred but not required.
