We strive to attract and retain exceptional employees who share our commitment to superior customer service, continued growth and organizational success.ResponsibilitiesJob Summary:Responsible for overall loan operations management and oversight of the Specialty Finance loan operations staff. Specialty Finance encompasses Notes Receivable Finance (commercial and residential), Mortgage Warehouse Lending and Tax Lien Lending. The Specialty Finance operations staff is responsible for collateral management, borrowing base monitoring, processing, servicing, accounting, reporting functions, and customer service.The SFOM will design and administer systems processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely processing; will lead, train, and supervise the operations staff Team Leaders and will ensure department meets organizational goals. The SFOM will communicate with LOB managers and officers to promote efficient and correct workflow, establish positive working relationships across the organization and with clients.Responsibilities and Duties:* Supervise collateral Team Leader(s), whose teams are responsible for reviewing commercial and residential mortgage collateral documents, determining any deficiencies to ensure the collateral packages are correct, which includes Note, Allonge, DOT, Assignment, Title policy, has been assigned to Veritex correctly as well as review reports from 3rd party Collateral Custodians and tracking exceptions noted, if any.* Supervise borrowing base Team Leader(s) whose teams are responsible for building initial borrowing bases based upon the approved credit structure, and ongoing monitoring of borrowing bases utilizing the the borrowing base loan tape. The SFOM may review internal approval packages and appraisals and asked to summarize important structural elements of the transaction and present to Executive Credit Officers for approval.* Supervise the due diligence for CRE notes being added to borrowing bases, the review borrowers’ internal loan write up and appraisal prior to note being added to borrowing base, ensuring note product type being coded correctly in the borrowing base, verifying the asset type and the appraised value.* Supervise the Mortgage Warehouse Manager, whose team is responsible for the management of the team, updating of policies and procedures, processing of collateral and borrower due diligence. Duties include borrower set-up and maintenance, due diligence, funding, inventory and shipping of notes to the end investor, settlements and curtailments.* Pro-actively oversee loan operations service levels for a portfolio of commercial and residential Note finance borrowers and mortgage warehouse borrowers. When needed, act as borrower’s liaison for funding requests, paydowns, and questions on interest statements and fees and will ensure a responsive, high quality experience for the borrower.* Ensure ongoing quality control of portfolio to include review of appraisals for notes being pledged and ensure quarterly appraisal sampling being completed through RIMS. Resolve appraisal issues with borrower and RIMS if necessary. Ensure quarterly first lien municipality checks sampling for each borrower and ensure results, along with appraisal sampling results, are saved to a shared directory.* Interview, hire, train and develop Specialty Finance Operations employees to meet the needs of the organization as the bank and LOBs grow. Oversee employee Specialty Finance Operations employee performance management, addressing complaints and resolving problems.* Assemble and distribute monthly/quarterly reporting on the portfolio to detect trends in asset quality and concentrations.QualificationsJob Skills and Qualifications:* Proficiency with loan-related applications (JHA, SRG, Sageworks, RIMS)* Material understanding of advanced functions within Excel including macros, coding, advanced pivot tables, and conditional formatting to create and test advanced borrowing base formats for calculations of loan availability. Ability to analyze and calculate figures and amounts on complex loan transactions.* Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. Work well in group problem solving situations.* Demonstrated ability to digest complex issues and develop creative solutions.* Decision-making, problem solving, and ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment.* Ability to build morale and group commitments to the goals and objectives so that everyone succeeds. Balance team and individual responsibilities, gives and welcomes feedback, contribute to building a positive team spirit.* Excels at collaborating with others, at all levels, to ensure organizational goals are attained.Preferred Skills; Experience; Certifications* 10 – 15 years’ experience at a bank, financial institution, private lender, mortgage company or real estate company.* 5 + years of supervisory and leadership experience and relevant loan operations management experience.* 7+ years banking experience preferredEducation/Certifications (required)* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.Work environment and Physical demands:The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
