SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of cash receipts processing, bi-weekly payroll processing, payroll cost allocations for grant reporting, and for providing accounting support to the Finance Department.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field requiredAbility to analyze complex data, including fiscal and performance data, and communicate results effectively, both orally and in writingExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsTwo years of previous accounting experience, particularly in accounts payable and payroll, preferably in a health care or non-profit environmentExperience using Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software and payroll processing softwareESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform accounting functions to support the Chief Financial Officer and Finance department.Manage reporting of all cash receipts and perform daily reconciliation of clinic collections.Enter payment information into administration cash receipts log daily.Work with Billing Manager to provide claims payment information to the billing department and to resolve any issues related to claims payment.Scan all payments and cash receipts into appropriate folders on shared network drive.Scan bank deposit information into online banking system.Assign appropriate general ledger account codes to bank deposits.Enter cash receipts into the general ledger system on a daily basis.Mail vendor payments.Serve as backup for the accounts payable cycle.Reconcile monthly corporate credit card accounts.Reconcile monthly invoices for contracted services (pharmaceutical, laboratory, radiology, etc.).Prepare miscellaneous monthly accounts receivable vouchers.Process bi-weekly payroll using outsourced payroll company’s software system.Obtain information from staff and calculate payroll cost allocations for grant accounting and reportingEnter all bi-weekly payroll related transactions into the general ledger system.Maintain all accounting records in accordance with organizational records retention policy and procedures.Work with auditors and third-party funders as needed to gather data for review and reports.All Health Center staff members have emergency and disaster response responsibilities.

Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or as may be assigned or delegated.WORK ENVIRONMENT: General office environment using general office equipment.PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITYDemonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights.

Maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and/or employees.

Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient and/or employee identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.EVALUATION: The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing, and will be carried out by the Chief Financial Officer.

It will include the specific duties and responsibilities as outlined in this description, as well as employee attitude and general behavior.
