Vice President Finance

Position Title: Vice President of Finance Department: Administration and Finance Reports to: Company President, Ginny Norton Compensation: $150,000
– $175,000 base salary plus 25% annual bonus Employment Type: Full-time/Exempt Work Location/Territory: Winston-Salem, North Carolina Position Summary: The Hatch Vice President, Finance will serve as a key member of the leadership team, who will provide financial leadership to support and enable the organization’s short and long-term growth and profitability.

The VP, Finance will lead the financial, accounting, audit, and fiscal aspects of the organization and oversee the supporting information systems, business processes and financial controls.

The VP, Finance will serve as a business partner to the Hatch President and other members of the senior team on financial planning & analysis, and strategic, high-impact issues.

The individual in this role will be analytical, personable, possess good people skills and mentoring capability, be a dynamic and innovative thinker, and have strategic acumen.

The VP, Finance will provide guidance and oversight to the Hatch leadership team on the fundamental key performance indicators to drive growth for the SaaS business model, including analysis and actionable insights to address learnings.

Responsibilities: 1.

Act as a business partner to the Hatch President and corporate CFO, as well as serving as a key member of the Hatch leadership team.

2.

Oversee financial close process and all financial reporting, including reporting to senior management and corporate as needed.

Assess organizational performance as compared to budget and long-range plan.

Develop and coordinate action plans where appropriate.

3.

Lead development and completion of forecasts, annual budget, business modeling and long-range planning; provide updates to management team and corporate as needed.

4.

Manage continuous development, tracking and analysis of key performance indicators for the business, with a focus on SaaS metrics.

5.

Act as a business partner with Hatch President in modeling, development and execution of the strategic plan for the Hatch business.

This includes support and analytics on pricing and deal margin analysis, along with ad-hoc analysis as appropriate.

6.

Intelligently plan and manage the company’s working capital requirements, including appropriate investment to continue to support and evolve its software offering, and ensure adequate cash flow to meet the business needs.

7.

Oversee management of third-party partner that serves Hatch for its hardware assembly, QA and fulfillment.

8.

Directly manage Director of Human Resources for Hatch.

9.

Develop and lead administration of sales compensation plans to properly incent different roles within the sales and customer support functions.

10.

Partner with HR to maintain and refine company benefits, including insurance to be attractive, while cost effective.

11.

Oversee the accounting team, including general accounting, sales and use tax, and accounts receivable and accounts payable operations to optimize cash flow and minimize financing costs.

12.

Participate as key subject matter expert and as business lead in designing, implementing, and managing financial accounting and ERP system.

Also, partner with center-of-excellence Hatch business lead for implementation of new integrated subscription application.

13.

Manage business unit process for the annual audit, including serving as key contact with outside auditors and leading review of revenue recognition in compliance with accounting standards, and support for capitalized software development and related projected cash flow to support remaining amortizable life.

14.

Oversee and provide guidance to ensure effective processes and internal controls are in place.

Recommend and implement improvements to business unit processes where appropriate.

Qualifications: Demonstrated success in cost management, promotion and use of metrics and balanced scorecards to inform business action and decisions, and standardization in data and systems.

Working knowledge of SaaS-based business key performance metrics.

Ability to identify and recommend actions to improve cash flow and strategically direct capital resources to business priorities.

History as team builder and collaborative senior leader, adept at working within a lean, diverse and distributed organization, gaining cooperation and respect of employees at all levels.

Demonstrated experience with business operations, including value-chain process mapping.

Ability to identify areas for improved efficiency, to plan and execute change in a non-disruptive manner, and to measure outcomes.

Demonstrated fiduciary experience, ability to strategically analyze financial and operational data, both at an overall organizational level as well as the detailed project/program levels and communicate that data to inform organizational strategy and development.

Requirements: 8 years of progressive, relevant and diverse senior financial leadership experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

MBA would be a plus.

Experience with SaaS-based business models and deep understanding of relevant KPI’s.

Demonstrated success in managing budgets, forecasts and strategic plans.

High energy persona, with attention to detail, a bias towards problem solving, taking action and a strong commercial sense.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Clear communicator with influential and effective interpersonal skills and refined emotional intelligence to enable building strong relationships.
