This is a Full-time position in Lubbock, TX posted July 30, 2021.

ReceptionistPerforms operations at the Switchboard/Reception area at Lubbock State Supported Living Center with the use of console telecommunication equipment/switchboard. Greets and assists visitors. Capable of handling high volume of calls on multi-line phone system by answering, placing, and transferring campus, local, and long-distance calls. Communicates with campus personnel including Transportation and Security by operation of business band mobile radios and pager system. Acts as the Command Center for communicating information and relaying emergency information/instructions campus wide. Monitors and responds to signals received from fire annunciator panel. Exhibits a thorough knowledge of campus emergency departmental procedures and is able to form proper interpretation and communicate instructions. May perform clerical duties during slow periods. Will be required to work shifts as needed to assure that coverage is maintained during the hours of 7:30 am and 5:30 pm daily including weekends and holidays.Essential Job Functions:Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.1. Monitors communication equipment for all emergency incidents and notifies designated employees and authorities. Acts as Command Center for relaying information and emergency procedures campus wide. May include using two-way radios, pagers, in addition to traditional PBX/Phone system.2. Performs duties of a telephone operator and acts as the Lubbock State Supported Living Center receptionist.3. Maintains written logs of activities that occur at the Switchboard/Reception area during each shift.4. Assists campus visitors including families staying at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center Family Lodge.5. Provides miscellaneous clerical tasks as needed.Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Knowledge Skills Abilities:Skills and experience in the use of computer to retrieve data and perform word processing. Must demonstrate the ability to respond to crisis situations effectively. Ability to communicate clearly and work well with people in a courteous manner. Bilingual in English /Spanish helpful.Registration or Licensure Requirements:NAInitial Selection Criteria:Experience in operating a switchboard and receptionist, clerical, or data entry work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.
