The User Interface Engineer 2 will help design and build features within our products and shared framework.

You will collaborate with other engineers and users to help create amazing user experiences.

As an Engineer at Michaels, you will work on projects critical to Michaels needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve.

We need our Engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems to push technology forward.

How will you do it?

Create prototypes to showcase multiple design concepts quickly, with an understanding of customer needs, business challenges and proposed solutions Support design team with various projects, presentations, and initiatives Contributing to the development of overall design and specifications for creating and enhancing the experience and functionality of user interface company products, including websites, software, hardware, and tools Partner with product management and product development to create design architecture, specifications, and requirements for the looks, feel and functionality of products Use design tools to create storyboards, samples, prototypes, and templates for demonstrating user testing Conduct market analysis, results and updated design architecture based on discovered trends and patterns Other duties as assigned

What Skills you will need to do your job?

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills
Proficiency in current design and collaboration tools, i.e.

Figma, Miro, Adobe Suite Experience with Atlassian tools, Confluence and Jira a plus Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum development process Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript a plus
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
2+ years of related design experience Knowledge of corporate brand guidelines, style guides and design systems Experience delivering responsive designs across all digital channels (web/mobile)
Proficiency in working from low fidelity to high fidelity Digital portfolio demonstrating strong understanding of UI design including, but not limited to, analytics, insights to wire frames, high fidelity designs and user flows Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction Up to date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and best practices Must have strong verbal and written communication skills Have confidence and advocate for designs Team player who is open to feedback from all levels of business Able to prioritize and manage workload
