The role of every Cybersecurity Infrastructure team member is to support the overarching values and business goals of Costco Wholesale as they relate to meeting legal, ethical and regulatory obligations; protecting member’s and employee’s privacy; and maintaining a security technology environment for our operations. The Engineer will be a key member of the Cybersecurity Infrastructure – Asset and Cloud Intelligence team that will support, maintain, and develop tools and projects focused on delivering asset visibility and intelligence to the Information Security and Compliance departments. The Engineer should have in-depth knowledge of system discovery and data management software and tools. They will work with management and vendors for product consideration including the auditing of information system activities. As a Subject Matter Expert, they will provide consultative services, drive innovation in technology, process, and procedure. Additional responsibilities include: maintaining operational excellence for their tools, services, and programs; creating and maintaining documentation related to policies, standards and procedures; leading and mentoring team members with lesser subject matter expertise. The Engineer should have in-depth working experience and knowledge of asset discovery, system integration, data collection, consolidation, manipulation, validation and reporting; solid skills in Windows and Linux environments along with experience with working with enterprise networks; experience with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices. ROLE Assesses existing Cybersecurity Infrastructure platforms and tools. Creates the roadmap for addressing capability gaps, maturity improvements and innovation. Supports security standards and procedures; identifies, develops and implements mechanisms to detect sensitive data and security incidents. Mentors and develops team members. Evaluates and hardens tooling and instrumentation to prevent cybersecurity exploits. Performs duties necessary to assist in establishing practices and system configurations to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect information systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Works with information systems custodians (i.e., department managers, user community and systems administrators) at different levels in the organization to understand their respective security needs and assist with implementing practices and procedures consistent with Costco’s Information Security Policy. Assists with monitoring and auditing of information systems activities and systems to confirm information security policy compliance and provide management with security policy compliance assessments and system monitoring reports. Works with stakeholders to provide security solutions that support their business requirements. Conducts security risk assessments on new products and systems, periodic security risk assessments on existing systems and identifies and/or recommends appropriate security countermeasures and best practices. Coordinates activities or engagements with loss prevention, and interacts with legal and law enforcement. Identifies security gaps that expose Costco to potential exploit and develops short and long term prioritized remediations to address those gaps ensuring management is apprised of the risk in a timely manner. Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and standards. Assumes a leadership role in advocating internally and externally for compliance with security measures to protect Costco’s applications and environments. REQUIRED A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or a minimum of 8 years information systems security experience. Expertise in managing IT Asset Management (ITAM) or CMDB systems such as Service Now, Axonius, Etc. Experience with integrating disparate systems for data enrichment such as using PowerBI or APIs. Experience performing complex data management, validation, reporting, and analysis. Experience with discovery protocols and tools such as Ping, NMAP, ARP, SNMP, etc. Experience with networking technologies, such as firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and proxies. 3 – 5 years’ experience with deploying, configuring and securing cloud PaaS & IaaS resources such as Azure, GCP and AWS. Experience with at least one scripting/programming language: PowerShell, shell scripting, python, etc. Working knowledge of information systems security standards/practices (e.g., access control and system hardening, system audit and log file monitoring, security policies, and incident handling). Ability to clearly communicate Information Security matters to executives, auditors, end users, and engineers, using appropriate language, examples and tone. Demonstrates a logical and structured approach to time management and task prioritization. Demonstrates a high level of communication skills, verbal and written. Innovative, creative, and extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency. Participates in team activities and team planning in regards to improving team skills, awareness and quality of work. Responsible for continued personal growth in the areas of technology, business knowledge, and Costco policies and platforms. Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business; may include evenings, weekends and holidays as required. Recommended One or more professional certifications such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, GSEC, CISA or CISSP (or equivalent work experience). Thorough experience within both Windows and Linux environments. Experience managing and using Configuration Management systems such as SCCM, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc. Strong knowledge of scalable multi-tier enterprise-level applications. Working knowledge of protocols and technologies such as ICMP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, SFTP, SNMP and DNS. Thorough understanding of the OSI model, as well as IPv4/IPv6 protocol suite. Working knowledge and experience with data warehouses and data lakes would be beneficial. Experience performing computer forensics. Experience with ITILv2/v3 processes such as Service Support, Service Delivery, or Continual Service Improvement. Experience with Regulatory Compliance and industry standards, such as HIPAA, SOX, and PCI. Experience in a DevOps or DevSecOps environment.
