Chief of Clinical Services

This is a Full-time position in Austin, TX posted February 3, 2021.

The Chief of Clinical Services is responsible for providing medical supervision, direction, and leadership for all aspects of healthcare delivery. The CCS is responsible for direct oversight of all departments of the on-site clinic and providers will report directly to the CCS. The CCS is also the program’s primary Medical Review Officer. CCS is responsible for collaborating with the healthcare team to provide patients with critical medical care services within the standard of care for critical care patients. The Chief of Clinical Services is responsible for providing services for on-site clinic health units to support emergency and disaster efforts. This is a temporary position and the length of the assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements. This position is responsible to be compliant with current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, as well as DOH and Agency for Healthcare Administration COVID-19 specific requirements. This position reports to the Program Manager.

  • Accountable for the coordination and oversight of clinical and administrative activities in the on-site clinic.
  • Responsible for performance improvement activities in the clinic
  • Directs and supervises clinical activities of the Primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
  • Supports other Service Chiefs and Clinical Directors in overseeing the operations of Primary Care, specialty, and all ancillary services performed in the on-site clinic.
  • Demonstrates an ability to deliver with respect to engaging and aligning medical staff, improving performance metrics, improving quality of care, and at the same time curtailing costs by more efficient use of resources.
  • Responsible for the oversight and coordination of process improvement initiatives, assuring teamwork, and addressing customer service issues in the clinic.
  • Broad management and administrative responsibilities.
  • Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Physician to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to provide patients with critical medical care services within the standard of care for critical care patients.
  • Systematically assesses the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyzes data, and formulates a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
  • Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensure and regulations of state employment or practice.
  • Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner.
  • Follows the corporate safety policy.
  • Ensures safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
  • Encourages co-workers to work safely.
  • Identifies “close calls” and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, JCAHO, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.
  • May serve on the OSHA VPP, Safety, and Wellness Committees.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical school in which an MD or DO degree was earned.
  • Must have a minimum of 15 (fifteen) years of clinical experience as a Physician in either Emergency Medicine, International Medicine, or Family Practice plus an additional 5 (five) years’ experience in a HealthCare Leadership position.
  • Demonstrated experience in executive-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) Medical License.
  • Board Certification in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice.
  • Current DEA registration number.
  • Have and maintain current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified/American Association for Physician Leadership
  • Degree in Business and Management
  • 5 years of experience as a Chief Medical Officer.
  • 5 years of Critical Care experience.
  • 5 years of Infectious Disease experience.
  • 5 years of Emergency Room experience.
