Clinical Data Specialist – ODL-Core-NTRC

Job Summary UT Southwestern has an opening for the position of Clinical Data Specialist
– ODL-Core-NTRC The Clinical Data Specialist (CDS) will perform biospecimen acquisition and procurement for the Neuroscience Translational Research Center (NTRC) Biorepository in the Peter O’Donnell Jr.

Brain Institute.

In this position, the CDS will interact directly with human research participants, extract medical data from the electronic medical records, prepare source documents, organize research records, assist with answering queries, and perform retrospective chart reviews.

The CDS will learn to consent patients at the University Hospitals, Parkland Health, and Children’s Health, will enter research data into approved databases, and perform regulatory tasks such as Institutional Review Board submissions.

Experience/Education Required:Associate’s degree in related field and no experience required.

Commercial Driver’s License may be required in certain areas.

High school graduation or GED and two (2) years experience in research or clinical area or other related experience.

May consider additional education in lieu of experience.

Job Duties:Directly interacts with human subjects
• Regularly maintaining research data Subject recruitment at multiple clinics across UTSW, Parkland and Children’s Identifies inclusion/exclusion criteria and preforms informed consents, and enrolls subjects Biospecimen collection and handling Coordinates sample collections with University campus outpatient labs Obtains medical history/data via patient interviews Works with electronic health records and database management systems for research data entry.

Skills:Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.

Phlebotomy experience or willing to get trained after job appointment.

Thrive in a fast-pace research environment High-energy and positive attitude implementation experience in innovative recruitment strategies.
