Coordinates, maintains, trains and provides oversight of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs at a plant.

Day to Day RoleFollow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standardsFollow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)Assist EHS Manager in administering EHS programsAssist in developing training and ergonomic programsDeliver EHS training and new hire orientations for one or more of the following: lock out / tag out (LOTO), fire prevention, hazard communications, confined space entry, hearing conservation, EHS policies and procedures, or other training programsAssist in safety incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actionConduct inspections and audits, identify opportunities to improve, and make recommendations to improve or eliminate unsafe conditions or practicesTrack and maintain appropriate documentation, and complete reportsCollaborate with local Human Resources Manager in the administration of Worker’s Compensation and Early Return to Work Program.Coordinate all hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, handling, and disposalEnsure procurement of proper EHS supplies including PPEMay communicate directly with regulatory agencies Core Skills and Qualifications Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issuesBS degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or other science field, orAssociate degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or other science field with two years of related experience, orHigh School diploma or equivalent with four (4) years of related experienceAbility to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and proceduresExcellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processesStrong written communication skills demonstrating the ability to prepare outlines, reports, letters, and any other supplemental materials in a clear and concise mannerExperience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to modify basic reports, documents and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and SharePointAbility to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace proceduresDemonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issuesStrong attention to detail and accuracyOrganizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlinesAbility to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and prioritiesPrior experience in handling compliance issues, OSHA/EPA programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping preferredExperience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, BOMA and BOCA standards preferredExperience with Federal, State and local Worker’s Compensation law and prior experience establishing proactive Ergonomics Program preferredExperience in a manufacturing environment, preferredPaper converting, chemical/plastics processing and packaging industrial experience, preferredProfessional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification, preferred Overview: As the manufacturer of Dart® and Solo® brand products, Dart Container is an industry leading single-use food and beverage packaging company.
