Job Summary and Qualifications POSITION SUMMARY:The person is to coordinate patient care activities and clinical operations in the Surgery Department.

They are to collaborate with other members of the health care delivery team including physician and ancillary services to deliver quality health care.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Coordinate staffing for specific service line cases.Manage case line up applicable to service line.Ensure adequate supplies are available for service line.Ensure all equipment is accounted for and functioning for assigned service line.Plan, develop, implement and evaluate operational quality improvement activities on a monthly basis in coordination with OR Director, OR operational Coordinator, and charge nurse.Review department and service line policies on an annual basis.

Develop new policies as required or needed.Plan, develop, implement and evaluate to maintain current OR certification in coordination with Education Coordinator.Knowledgeable with 100% compliance with Core Measures in the Surgery Department (evidence based best demonstrated practice).Participate and attend all unit meetings.Share ?call?

with the staff nursing staff per operational departmental needs.Serve as a professional role model.Provides excellent customer services following the philosophy of the hospital and OR with the guiding values in daily activities.Serve as staff and/or charge nurse when needed.Assist with the daily operations, supply management and overall operations of the assigned service lineOther duties as assigned.EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: REQUIREDCurrent Compact or Texas RN LicenseAssociate Degree, NursingPREFERREDPrefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: REQUIREDCurrent Compact or Texas RN LicenseACLS, PALSCertification and licenses must be renewed prior to expirationPREFERREDPrefer Certified Operating Room Nurse CNOREXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: REQUIREDOne year’s clinical experience in ORPREFERREDOne year specialty coordinator experienceSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:PREFERREDHighly developed interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work long hours and irregular hours with many interruptionsCritical thinking abilityKnowledge of body substance isolationEffective communication skillsAbility to lead othersCommunicates clearly and concisely.Encourages team-building effortsDeveloped personal computer skills to include computer based scheduling Del Sol Medical Center is a full service, acute-care hospital in east El Paso, Texas.
