Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN – Psych 

CareerStaff Unlimited is looking to hire a Psych Licensed Practical Nurse for full-time, contract opportunities in Rusk, TX. Qualified nurses will have previous psych or med-Surg experience and have a strong focus on inpatient care.   • Shift: 6a-2p or 10p-6a; weekends required
  • 8 hour shifts
  • 13 weeks contract
  • Must be licensed in Texas



Weekly Estimated Pay: $1250
Weekly Taxable Pay: $480
Weekly Housing Stipend: $385
Weekly Meal Stipend: $385

Duties: The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for delivering quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients with emotional or psychiatric disorders; serves actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, supporting the organization and program philosophy of care; ensuring the safety and well-being of each patient. 

Skills:1 year of inpatient psychiatric experience 

Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and a valid State LPN License.

  • Ability to work with other personnel and develop/maintain good relations 
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of care and current clinical practice, treatments, and interventions, specific to position specialty 
  • Ability to understand and monitor applicable regulations, policies, and procedures 
  • Promote patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals 
  • Resolve patient’s problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies 
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with rules and regulations 
  • Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism 
  • Ability to deal tactfully with residents, students, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public, according to position setting 
  • Ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. 
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written/verbal skills in the English language 
  • Sufficient computer skills required to perform duties 



  • Each candidate must have at least two years’ experience in nursing in an acute or long-term care setting 
  • Each candidate will work a rotating scheduleand be asked to work three weekends a month and have 2 days off during the week dependent upon scheduling. 
  • Each candidate will need to have an American Heart Association CPR Card 
  • 6-12 months of recent (within the last year) supervised experience in Long Term Care/Nursing Home setting 
  • Licensed Practical Nursing degree from an accredited institution 
  • Current CPR/BLS certification, Physical, TB test (within 1 year of hire) 
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN license in the state of employment or compact (multi-state) license
