Medical Assistant

Sanova Dermatology

This is a Full-time position in Houston, TX posted June 24, 2021.

The Medical Assistant work under the supervision of the Back Office Manager, Medical Assistant Team Lead and Director of Operations, acts as an extension to the treating physician during clinic hours to ensure quality patient care and efficient patient flow.

Represents the company in a professional manner and supports the goals and objectives of our practice.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Works collaboratively with our medical providers and reporting supervisor, both on Medical and Cosmetic divisions to deliver optimal patient carePrepares patients for examination and treatment, which includes: taking patient’s vital signs, preparing exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, administer injections, documenting a brief medical history, checking patient’s chart for pertinent data (i.e.

lab results, complete medical histories, medications, and allergy information) and communicates information to PhysicianAssists Physicians with exams and minor procedures when requestedResponsible for accurately documenting information onto the progress note as directed by the Physician for that particular visitProvides post-operative care instructions, drug samples and written prescriptions as directed by the physiciansPrepares specimens for lab, culture and biopsies including requisitions accurately and efficiently.

Document’s lab and pathology results in logbook promptly.

Notifies patients of lab results within 72 hours of receipt of resultFacilitates pharmacy calls in regards to prescription refills in a timely manner.

Consults with physician when appropriateInspects rooms for cleanliness after each visit and cleans prior to rooming the next patientReturns patient calls daily in regards to prescriptions and questions.

Consults with physician when appropriateMaintains an accurate inventory of all instruments and drug sample at all timesFollows OSHA, CLIA & HCFA regulations and safety guidelines of the practiceRespects and maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulationsTakes patient before and after photographs when required Qualifications:Knowledge of medical terminology and proceduresKnowledge of Nextech and/or EMR software experience is desiredKnowledge of cameras and computer accessories related to practiceKnowledge of sterile techniques used in the clinicKnowledge of emergency treatment equipment and provides urgent and emergent care when requiredKnowledge of suture removal for post-operative patientsKnowledge of Blood Borne pathogen safety precautions, proper handling and disposingKnowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) regulations as related to Protected Health Information (PHI)+Excellent written and oral communication skillsWell-organized with attention to detailCustomer Service drivenSelf-motivated and takes initiativeTime management skillsMust be reliable, responsible, dependable and demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making capabilitiesAbility to listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally or writtenAbility to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalismAbility to work overtime when needed and assist with the workloads of othersMA certification from an accredited program requiredCPR certification requiredMinimum 1 year clinic experience, 6 months of dermatology experience is strongly desiredFull time staff position (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday and Saturday rotationPhysical Requirements:Position is in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Frequent contact with patient.

Good eyesight correctable to 20/20 and hearing within normal range, manual dexterity and full range motion required.

Some bending and stooping required.

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

May require occasional lifting of 35 pounds or more.
