The Woodlands Hospital
a primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women’s services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries) and surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Radiation Treatment Center, and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Responsibilities

Major responsibilities include: Staffing Requirement: Ensure department is staffed appropriately. Shifts are variable and may include some weekends, nights, and/or holidays as needed. Should be able to alternate on-call. Staffing and administrative time is flexible; however, staffing should be priority. Clinical Management: Ensure the effective delivery of nursing care. Ensure specialty needs of services are met. Quality Assurance/Research: Ensure compliance with established quality standards. Utilize current research in practice. Human Resources/Financial Management: Manage unit staff productively, and assist in budget development and maintenance; assist in performance appraisals. Communication/Patient-Guest Relations: Provide a caring environment in support of CHI St. Luke’s mission and values. Proactively strives for excellence in customer satisfaction. Professional Practice/Professional Development: Assume a leadership role in development of a professional practice. Productivity: Monitor room utilization and unit staff efficiency, including providing assistance with staffing and unit coverage during staffing shortages and/or peak times.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Nursing
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS

Minimum Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 1 year experience in the discipline or 3 years’ experience in the discipline or Master’s Degree and no experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective Communication
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills of the nursing process to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Basic Computer skills – familiarity with Windows based software programs.
  • Experience working in an acute care facility
  • Emergency, Critical Care experience
