They provide assistance in transporting, transferring and lifting.

They perform cleaning functions in patient care unit as delegated, and perform selected diagnostic tests.Responsibilities:Position Responsibilities:Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staffMonitors and records vital signsAssists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needsAccurately measures, records, and reports intake and outputObtains and records daily weightPerforms blood glucose testing using blood glucose meterReports changes in patients status promptly to RNPerforms as patient care companion when neededAssists in the admission, transfer and discharge processPerforms unit housekeeping needs.Acts as a runner/transporterActs as receptionist for unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy dependent on the need of unitChecks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnelUpdates assigned bed statusAnswers call lights and telephoneKeeps patient environment clean, Performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautionsCommunicates with patients family, physicians, and unit personnel and peers in an accurate, courteous, and professional mannerQualifications:Education:High School Diploma/GED RequiredBased on location assignment may also require BLS/ACLS/ and or PALSMinimum Experience:Less than One (1) year experience in related fieldMinimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Good written/oral communication skills
