Responsibilities

Physical Therapy Assistant (Holistic Health and Fitness) GS-636-07

Duties:

  • Plan, coordinate, and administer diverse rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured Soldiers, with a wide range of sports, orthopedic and neurological conditions under the direction of the Physical Therapist
  • Perform evaluations and monitor progress to determine treatment plan modifications
  • Make recommendations and utilize various treatment modalities, including diathermy, hydrotherapy, massage, electrotherapy, ultrasound, and therapeutic exercise
  • Provide updated status in patient progress reports
  • Educate other Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) teammates on how to plan, coordinate, and implement goal-oriented group and/or focused individual physical therapy prevention programs
  • Document information related to a Soldier’s care in accordance with various guidelines, including American Physical Therapy Association, The Joint Commission, and current military protocols

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

  • One year of specialized experience which includes implementing physical therapy interventions and educating on physical therapy exercise programs or evaluating physical therapy results or, one full year of graduate-level education from an accredited college or university leading to such a degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science or related field of study or, a combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
  • A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant from a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States is required.
