SCHEDULE: Full-time

Work Schedule:  Full Time with call

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse ? PACU is responsible for assessing the nursing care needs of patients, planning interventions and evaluating outcomes of care.  The RN provides direct care and/or supervises nursing care of LVN?s and non-licensed nursing staff.  The RN is responsible for providing care consistent with the Nursing Department?s policies, procedures and standards of practice.
 
RN?s are responsible for providing care, which is appropriate to the age specific (adolescent, adult and geriatric patients), developmental and safety needs of the assigned patient population.  In addition to the RN duties and responsibilities, the RN scope includes charge duties.  The charge nurse makes patient assignments and supervises and directs the staff and unit activities for the assigned shift.
  • Providing care (appropriate for age specific – pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics), the developmental and safety needs, the planned procedure, and the anesthetic agent used
  • Communicating and educating the patient and/or their family members and/or significant others regarding events pertinent to their care
  • Anticipating and planning for the needs of the surgical team

    Qualifications

    Minimum Position Requirements:

    1. Licensure/Certification/Registration:  

    a.    TX RN License or compact license

    b.    BLS (AHA)

    c.    ACLS (AHA) If currently have ACLS it must be maintained; if not, it must be obtained within 6 months and then maintained.

    d.    PALS (AHA) If currently have PALS it must be maintained; if not, it must be obtained within 6 months and then maintained.

     

    1. Education:  

                 a.   ADN required

    b.   BSN preferred. If hired into RN required position after September 2014 and no BSN, then BSN required within 3 years of facility date.
