Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:The Trauma Program Coordinator assumes 24 hour responsibility for the coordination of care for trauma patients throughout the facility and provides support, coordination and over-site of all Trauma activities for SDMC and HHOA.

Is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a cost-effective system of care for trauma patients and their families throughout the continuum of care.

Works both independently and in collaboration with the Trauma Program Medical Director(s), members of the health care team and the management staff.

The Trauma Program Coordinator is self-directed and self-motivating, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress of work to the Quality Manager.

Will establish an overall plan and will be responsible for coordinating all trauma-related services, educational and administrative, to ensure comprehensive care to all trauma patients.

Will be responsible for ensuring that the trauma services for SDMC and HHOA are in constant compliance with Joint Commission and State regulations appropriate for the level of trauma designation maintained by the facility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Support and adhere to hospital policies, procedures, philosophy and mission.

Participate in the development and planning of goals and objectives related to trauma care.

Coordinate with the trauma medical director, trauma surgical service medical director, hospital administration and clinicians to assess the need for policies, procedures and protocols relating to the care of trauma patients.

Represents the Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management.

Work with a broad array of department to resolve inefficiencies and reduce costs

Supervise adherence to hospital policies and procedures and standards through observation, medical record review, staff feedbacks and other appropriate sources.

Serves as a liaison to administration, representing the Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster a fiscally sound Trauma Program.

Monitor trauma care financial reimbursement issues.

What qualifications you will need:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Nursing required, Masters of Science preferred Three years clinical experience in trauma/emergency care or relevant experience

Licenses and Certificates:

1.Required: Holds current RN licensure in the State of Texas

2.BLS/BCLS requiredwithin 90 days of hire.

3.ALS/ACLSrequiredwithin 90 days of hire.

4.Current certification as a TNCC Provider.

(Instructor Preferred or completed within one year of hire)

5.Current certification as a Provider in either PALS or ENPC (Instructor Preferred) or within 90 days of hire required per St.

David s HealthCare policy.

6.Certified in specialty area is preferred
