Senior Clinical Lab Assistant- Histology

This is a Full-time position in Austin, TX posted March 11, 2022.

We Are Hiring Ascension Seton is hiring for a Full-time Senior Clinical Lab Assistant in Histology!

The primary role is to provide slide staining, accurate sorting, printing reports and distribution to meet morning courier deadlines.

Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines is crucial.

This position will be changing automated staining reagents, automated coverslipper maintenance and logging.

This position will also be assisting in the gross room which includes: data entry to generate surgical accession numbers for registering incoming specimens, maintain and reconcile specimen log sheets, opportunities for histology techniques such as frozen sections using a cryostat, assisting with preparing and staining slide smears during FNA procedures, routine slide staining, maintaining stain reagents and dyes.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4:30am

or B.S.

What You Will DoPrimary role is to provide slide staining, accurately sorting, printing reports and distribution to meet morning courier deadlines.

Some gross room assisting that includes: data entry to generate surgical accession numbers for registering incoming specimens, maintain and reconcile specimen log sheets, opportunities for histology techniques such as frozen sections using a cryostat, assisting with preparing and staining slide smears during FNA procedures, routine slide staining, maintaining stain reagents and dyes.

Perform advanced specimen processing and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.

May collect specimens and perform waived testing under technical supervision.+ Perform receiving, record keeping, accessioning, phlebotomy, processing, and transporting of specimens.

Conduct materials management duties, orders add on tests, audits pending logs, and resolves duplicate orders.+ Set up, maintain and troubleshoot as needed.

Load samples on automated analyzers.+ Perform client service duties; registration, billing-related functions, training and guidance.+ Assist in pathology to include, but not limited to: pulling and filing of slides and blocks, processing pathology samples and managing and tracking send outs.+ Manage and track reference testing and result routing.+ May perform daily tasks without on-site supervision.What You Will NeedLicensure / Certification / Registration:+ One of more of the following preferred:+ Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).+ Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).+ Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).Education:+ High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate’s degree, or Technical degree required.Additional PreferencesNo additional preferences.Why Join Our Team Ascension Seton, based in Austin, Texas, has provided thousands of associates and caregivers a rewarding career in healthcare since 1902.
