Purpose of JobWe are seeking a Policy and Performance Underwriter Lead (Commercial Lines Property) for 100% Remote work location.The individual selected for this role will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of USAA Commercial Lines Property Strategy.Identifies, develops, and implements P&C Underwriting policies and processes to achieve enterprise priorities. Partners with internal stakeholders to maintain P&C Underwriting policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with state regulations. Ensures implementation of sophisticated projects throughout a line of business or specific area. This singular mission requires a dedication to innovative thinking at every level.USAA Careers – World Class Benefits (31 seconds)Primary Responsibilities:* Identifies and leads existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.* Ensures risks associated with business activities are optimally identified, measured, supervised, and controlled.* Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.* Leads and provides mentorship to others on the development and implementation of business guidelines, controls, and strategies consistent with company policy and goals.* Optimally owns and leads a sophisticated body(ies) of work that deliver on strategic underwriting priorities by making data-driven decisions and resolves issues/challenges/roadblocks without assistance.* Develops and delivers underwriting briefings and communications to internal and external audiences to include P&C EMG, P&C President, and the Board.* Provides direction, mentoring and shares industry knowledge and experience with other employees who lead underwriting programs, guidelines, and processes.* Independently gathers and analyzes data, and teaches others on the utilization of data, to conduct root cause analysis to proactively evaluate and recommend changes to, or establish a point of view on the Underwriting appetite for product acceptability* Serves as a delegate for leadership and optimally communicates and shares information across P&C and the organization, tailors messaging for audiences ranging from peers to senior executives* Educates others on insurance trends and provides POV on critical business recommendations* Leads the development of large-scale solutions or sophisticated changes to underwriting policies, programs, products, and processes in a highly regulated environment* Supplies to the development of underwriting educational programs/tools, training/mentoring messages, and/or communications for the delivery to internal and external audiences.Minimum Requirements:* Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree.* 8 years of experience in Property & Casualty, Project Management, Process Engineering, Business Process or Risk Management, to include direct experience executing underwriting processes and/or defining underwriting procedures.* Advanced knowledge of relevant industry practices, trends, and regulatory requirements.* Experience in making data driven decisions to create actionable recommendations for performance improvement.* Experience in presenting analysis and findings to varying levels of management and key stakeholders to gather support for business initiatives and influence strategy.* Experience researching, developing, writing, and editing operational procedures and documents* Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access.Preferred Experience:* 8 years of experience in Commercial Property Lines of Business: Underwriting, Product Management, Product Development, Risk Management, or Catastrophe Management to include direct experience executing underwriting strategies and processes and/or defining underwriting procedures and experience developing or delivering a Catastrophe Management strategy* Master’s Degree or completed Insurance Designation(s) such as CPCU, AINS, AIS, AU, etc.* Experience underwriting or standing up a robust property product or underwriting strategy to support various commercial property products and forms on a national basis* Experience developing, delivering, or executing a reinsurance strategy* Experience researching, developing, or implementing property forms logic and associated rules* Experience coaching or mentoring team members* Experience working across varying interests to develop & deliver a long-term strategyThe above description reflects the details considered vital to describe the principal functions of the job and should not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be performed in the job.Compensation:USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position.
