Job Description

Cricut® is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer (CPE) to join our Data & Analytics team.

The ideal candidate is an engineer that comprehensive understanding of Cloud architecture and an understanding how the various cloud services and applications interact.

A CPE ensures that Cricut’s analytical services have reliability and uptime appropriate to the teams needs while keeping an ever-watchful eye on capacity and performance. The CPE will collaborate with Data Architects, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists to propel the Cricut® brand and our analytic abilities to the next level. The Data Team at Cricut is a loyal team which you will be a member of to deliver as a team analytical solutions. 

A good CPE is someone who knows of all the bits and pieces necessary for all the infrastructure components to work together harmoniously. They take ownership of the user experience on the platform to ensure that the Architects, Analysts, Scientist have the best experience possible on the platform.

They anticipate the needs of these teams and can fill in gaps of knowledge they may have related to the infrastructure needed. 

An excellent CPE will have experience and knowledge of the capabilities of the other major cloud providers and how they can be integrated in a polyglot infrastructure. An excellent CPE not someone who designs complex systems, an excellent CPE is someone who can design eloquently simple systems. 

Responsibilities: 

Experience working heavily within an AWS cloud environment (RDS, EC2, Lambda, SQS, S3, VPC, CloudWatch, IAM, Fargate, SageMaker) 

Experience with security: Identification, Authentication, Authorization with experience delivering a secure environment that is still a useable environment 

Experience building CI/CD pipelines and using pipeline tooling 

Knowledge observability principles for monitoring infrastructure 

Experience with production support issues, and how to remediate in a timely manner 

Strong familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g. CloudFormation) 

Experience working with applications requiring compliance audits 

Demonstrated ability to work independently and desire to mentor junior team members 

Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning and launch reviews. 

Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health. 

Maintain and configure 3rd party application either hosted in cloud or elsewhere 

Maintain software upgrades, staying up to date on the latest releases of applications used 

Manage application costs and anticipate growth of infrastructure 

Qualifications

BS degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent professional experience. 

Preferred qualifications: 

AWS or other cloud providers (GCP/Azure) certifications 

Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems. 

Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive. 

Ability to debug and automate routine tasks.
