Data Science Analyst

Catapult Solutions Group

This is a Full-time position in Irving, TX posted August 25, 2021.

The IT Data Scientist will support the Digitalization effort. He/She will be using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations.

The IT Data Scientist will:

• Drive business results with their data-based insights.

• Works with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams in a global setting to improve business outcomes.

• Have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets.


• Works with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.

• Mines and analyzes data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.

• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources/extracts and data gathering/merging techniques.

• Develops custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.

• Uses predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.

• Develops company A/B testing framework and test model quality.

• Coordinates with different functional teams to implement and maintain models and visualization dashboards.

• Develops processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data


Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field.

o Master’s Degree a plus

Minimum 5 years of experience employing data sets and building statistical models

o 3 years of experience accepted if combined with a master’s degree

Minimum 1 year of experience in the Chemical industry

• Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.

• A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

• Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.

• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.

• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.

• Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.

• Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, time series analysis, etc.

Desirable Qualifications

• Knowledge of coding APIs and experience with several languages like C#, Java, JavaScript, etc.

• Experience using web services like Azure Cognitive Services/ML, Databricks, etc.

• Experience using Alteryx, Databricks, DataRobot to analyze and manipulate data.

• Experience analyzing data from 3rd party Market Intelligence providers a plus.

• Experience with distributed data/computing tools like Spark, etc.

• Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, etc.

• Knowledge of SAP, Azure, Marketo, SFDC, Google Analytics, Snowflake a plus.

• Experience with a B2B business especially in specialty chemicals or materials.
