Database Engineer

Description: Our client is currently seeking a Database Engineer!

This job will have the following responsibilities:

    • Someone who understand the connectivity of Database and the application.
      • Multiple B2C years of experience (Online Sales & retail or Content experience)
        • 100% remote if needed
          • The Database Analyst is responsible for full life cycle development and maintenance of applications supporting a wide variety of business functions. 
            • The DBA will provide technical expertise in programming languages and technical database tools and will implement through hands on coding of enhancements to existing systems.

            Responsibilities may include:

            1. Works independently or as part of a team on the development and support of software applications.

            2. Works with business analysts and user communities to understand business requirements.

            3. Performs analysis and documentation for system design as well as on-going documentation of development.

            4. Codes using specific technologies and tools in keeping with current technology trends and standards.

            5. Performs testing of applications and performs bug fixes, working with testers and users to ensure quality of code and proper application functionality.

            6. Provides technical support during implementation efforts, working with technical team members and with business users as required to provide troubleshooting and solutions to technical issues.

            7. Provide on-going post-implementation technical support of applications.

            8. Creates user-end documentation and may be involved in user training.

              Primary Functions (Required):

              • Design and build new databases based on the company’s global needs, data storage needs, and the number of users accessing the database.
              • Continuously monitor databases and related systems to ensure high functionality.
              • Write new support programs and scripts for databases to increase data storage capacity.
              • Troubleshoot database code, checking for potential problems that affect database functionality and related database programs, including looking through the coding language to debug existing database scripts and programs.
              • Review daily, weekly, and monthly database reports, including user reports and systems information, to spot problems and ensure that all databases and support systems are working at peak levels.
                • Executes database maintenance activities including re-indexing, statistic updates, and backup/recovery strategies, recommends implements and tests backup policies for databases and restores data as necessary.
                • Experience in coding in Angular 8+ and TypeScript.
                • Experience with integrating databases to portals developed on Angular.
                • Experience with using Chef Tools and Jenkins for automatic deployment of PostgreSQL and native instances to AWS environments.
                • Managed and orchestrated servers on Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform using Chef for configuration management.
                • Configure AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) Groups and Users for improved login authentication.
                • Administered Amazon’s AWS backend databases and servers.

               Secondary Functions:

              • Ensures data is secure and audits user activity to ensure integrity and performance of the database.
              • Safeguards organizational financial sensitive information from unauthorized usage and individuals
              • Collaborating with the senior developer/architect and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience, while contributing ideas to improve product functionality, maintainability or performance by monitoring industry developments and trends.
              • Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
              • Focus on efficiency, user experience, and process improvement.
              • Excellent time management skills.
              • Strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills.
              • Attends regularly scheduled scrum stand-ups & meetings and provide written and verbal reports and analysis of associated technology issues.
              • Ability to work independently and with team members.
