The Mission Systems Operation contract (MSOC) has an excellent opportunity for a Systems Engineer to facilitate design changes to NASA Johnson Space Center’s Mission Control Center (MCC), specifically in User Applications.
The applicant will work in a dynamic team environment and will be responsible for working with the NASA customer, users, and commercial and international partners to capture and negotiate requirements, user stories and operations concepts and then drive those change requests through the systems engineering lifecycle.

Applicant will work closely with Platform/OS and Software Engineers, System Testers, and Project Managers to facilitate changes across all parts of these complex systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written are required for customer interactions. Strong initiative, teamwork and problem-solving skills are also required.

Primary responsibilities:
– Work with the customer, users, and engineers to effectively analyze user requirements, user stories, and operations concepts
– Performs high level requirement assessments and facilitates the detailed assessments performed by the technical organizations
– Develop and maintain schedules for work components
– Create and/or update all documentation for design, and change instruments
– Perform post data processing, post data reduction, and data mining
– Performs analysis, assessments, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
– Leads systems architecture design and integration efforts
– Provides support to the implementation organizations
– Communicates inward to the organization and outward to customer contacts
– Work effectively in a team setting to collaborate ideas

Job Requirements: Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires BS in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar degree. 0 to 10 years experience plus.

Required Skills:
– The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and professionally represent the program
– Highly motivated individual willing to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and software
– Good verbal and written communication skills, especially with other organizations
– Initiative
– Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
– Ability to work effectively in a team setting
– Demonstrated experience across various areas of the systems engineering lifecycle including requirement analysis, design, and documentation

Desired skills:
– Understanding of NASA Requirements
– Leadership skills
– Knowledge of the Mission Control Center Sub-Systems
– Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL workflow toolset
– Experience with agile practices
