Network Manager

City of Keller

This is a Full-time position in Keller, TX posted July 13, 2021.

Position Function – Under the direction of the Director and/or Designee, performs assigned duties necessary to support the daily operations of the Information Technology Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: set-up and installation of computer systems, workstations, audio and visual equipment, hardware and software updates, printer, and computer peripherals; website maintenance; telecommunications; troubleshooting and repair of applications and equipment; and help desk support.

Essential Duties % of Performance

Performs assigned duties necessary to support the daily operations of the Information Technology Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: set-up and installation of computer systems, workstations, audio and visual equipment, hardware and software updates, printer, and computer peripherals; website maintenance; telecommunications; troubleshooting and repair of applications and equipment; and help desk support. Responsible for maintaining inventory of computer hardware and software, and making purchasing recommendations.  85%

Performs assigned duties necessary to serve as the lead for audio-visual production. Duties include, but are not limited to: operation of live meetings; scheduling of cable programming; and editing of meeting videos and streaming meeting videos to internet. 10%

Performs additional duties as assigned. 5%

Pushing/Pulling/Reaching/Stooping/Twisting – moving computer equipment; running cable, setting-up desktop spaces, installing computers and related devices/equipment, etc.

Standing – assisting customers, computer repair, work bench, etc.

Sitting – desk work, meetings, etc.

Vision – support manuals, technical manuals, instructions, computer and desktop installations, video production and editing, etc.

Walking – to and from building , around department, assisting employees, meetings, etc.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and/or Work Aids

Duties are generally performed in an office environment. Possible exposure to dust, mold, allergens, and electricity. 

Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a high school diploma or GED, and one (1) to three (3) years of work related experience. 

Ability to obtain CompTIA A+; Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) within 2 years of employment.

Ability to perceptively question users, diagnose, and troubleshoot software and hardware problems.

Ability to be on-call on a rotating weekly schedule.

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Ability to work with detailed information for sustained periods of time.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City and other public employees, public officials, contractors, consultants, vendors, and the general public.

Knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Active Directory, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), and Wireless Distribution System (WDS).

Knowledge of Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and Internet Information Services (IIS).

Experience with Local Area Networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). Understanding and experience working with Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN).

Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations and/or analyses.

Must possess excellent customer services skills.

Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. 

Must posses strong organization skills and have the ability to work in a fast paced work environment.

Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner, and have the ability to successfully work with all age groups and backgrounds and needs.

Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver license.
