Network Resiliency Engineer

Capital One

This is a Contract position in Allen, TX posted July 28, 2021.

West Creek 4 (12074), United States of America, Richmond, Virginia Network Resiliency Engineer Network Resiliency Engineer Serve as Resiliency team support engineer to ensure resiliency of the Capital One network environment(s).

Analyze and report on network configuration and security hardening standards in support of internally driven resiliency audits and security testing.

Consult on the development of the enterprise support strategy and assist with lifecycle management efforts for platforms and technologies inclusive of all Network Product Team platforms such as: Wide Area Network Carrier, Routers, Switches, Wireless, DNS, Firewall, Cyber Defense and Proxy services.

Provide visibility to key performance indicators to help manage various platform environment(s) to ensure they are resilient and operating at optimal levels.

Assist with problem resolution analysis for incidents related to resiliency and security assurance, consult with other technology support groups as needed including Product Engineering Teams as part of problem resolution efforts.

Assess security vulnerabilities, identify proper prioritization and provide visibility to Product Teams to assist with mitigation planning and ensure successful remediation Consult on the creation and/or maintenance of testing results artifacts, standards documentation and operational runbook templates, topology diagrams and workflow documents.

Participate in technology integration efforts with engineering and other support teams to ensure infrastructure is resilient and meets the high standard of operational excellence for Capital One.

Provide direct support of audit and ad hoc consulting engagements.

Ensure compliance with departmental and enterprise configuration standards.

Serve as a technical resource for various team(s) and provide training to associates through one-on-one or group technical discussions.

This position will require some planned and ad hoc travel.

Successful candidates will possess: Able to understand routing concepts and solutions including protocols such as EBGP/IBGP, ISIS, OSPF, and EIGRP.

High level of understanding of Proxies, Firewalls (PaloAlto/CheckPoint), DNS, and F5 LTM/GTMs Working knowledge of network platforms including wireless solutions and SD-WAN solutions.

Skilled in scripting, PostGres and/or automation.

Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.

Ability to work both independently as well as part of a geographically dispersed yet integrated team.

Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly colla borative, frequently changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment.

Significantly demonstrable experience supporting large-scale enterprise networks.

Working knowledge of network management tools.

Familiarity with Agile / DevOps delivery model, industry standard network management tools, and common application traffic flow patterns in multi-tiered applications.

A solid understanding of what comprises a scalable, robust and supportable design.

A bias toward action, along with an internal drive for continuous improvement.

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills to: Discuss complex technical issues with technicians, engineers, and vendors.

Assemble and clearly present technical information in a business-like manner to non-technical personnel.

Lead and facilitate communications within the team, other departments, and external third parties.

Inform and influence management leaders and peers.

This position is an operational role.

As such, periodic late-night work and participation in an on-call may be required.

At times the late-night work may come with minimal notice.

Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification At least 4 years of network engineering experience in a geographically distributed infrastructure environment At least 4 years experience with Cisco routing and switching At least 1 year of experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure At least 1 year of experience developing Python scripts for network automation Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree 1 year experience with Infoblox DNS, BIND, or Microsoft DNS 1 year experience with Blue Coat Proxy servers 1 year experience with Aruba wireless access points, controllers, and Clearpass.
