Job Description

The Enterprise Software Applications Developer III, under direction, serves as technical SME for software development.

This position supports the university by creating custom software applications as well as working on third-party integrations and single sign on.

Additionally, this position provides mentorship for Jr.

Developers and contributes to the overall team atmosphere with the shared goal of providing exceptional customer care through innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:

PL/SQL PROFICIENCY: Youll design, develop, and implement custom solutions for the University including planning, analysis, design, data modeling, coding, implementation, testing, training, documentation and maintenance all according to established standards and industry best practices.

COMMUNICATION & RELATIONSHIPS: Youll represent the University and Information Technology in a professional manner at all times.

This includes serving as the lead technical liaison for customers, vendors and sometimes co-workers.

SOLUTIONS: From start to finish, you are involved in daily operations.

In any given day, you could be approving coding designs, creating and evaluating rock solid test plans, conducting peer code review sessions, participating in data architecture design, or training customers.

And, youll likely be writing code to help our customers serve their customers.

SOFTWARE EVALUATION: Acting as a consultant to campus, youll get into the technical details of evaluating new software applications.

Youll answer questions and coordinate the technical guidance and training for application users, oversee consistency with design documentation, and participate in the development of system and programming standards.

APPLICATION SUPPORT: As a matter of regular practice, youll support campus applications, including: Banner, Cognos, Degree Works, Blackboard, and others.

PROJECT TEAM MEMBER: Youll be assigned to one or more active projects at any given time.

Participating as a Core Team member, youll collaborate with the project leader to develop work plans and time schedules for projects including outlining phases, identifying subject matter experts, and leading integration and user acceptance testing efforts.

Education & Experience:

Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Five years of related, aggregate experience.

Ellucian BANNER experience required

Experience working with Structured Query Language (SQL), PL/SQL preferred

Experience working with relational database table structures

Knowledge of shell scripting and or other languages (Powershell, Unix, Curl, Json, Perl, Python)

Experience working with a scheduler process (UC4, Automic)

Version control and code repositories such as GIT, Eclipse, SVN Tortoise

Knowledge of the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL) practices

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions (i.e., Critical Thinking)

People skills required to work with managers, peers, and customers

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Knowledge of advanced analysis, troubleshooting, problem solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology, context and interrelationships
