Software Developer

HumCap is recruiting on behalf of a DFW based SaaS company who is looking to hire a full time Software Developer.  
 
As our ideal candidate, you’re passionate about developing and finding complex systems to work on. You relish the idea of being able to work across all layers of the stack but are just as happy refactoring a model. This is a fully remote position. No relocation is needed.
 
You will be responsible for new product feature development and existing feature enhancements within the application as well as working with the current development team to help support the clients customer base and with technical issues.
 
Responsibilities and Duties

• Participate as a member of our development team to improve product offering
• Work directly with multiple development teams and the product team to assist in new feature development and quickly resolve issues
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
• Build API integrations with other systems
• Architect and implement solutions from defined specs and diagrams
• Assist in technical documentation

Qualifications and Skills

• Good comprehension of MVC framework, OOP, and RESTful design pattern, extensive knowledge of Ruby on Rails and the core Ruby language
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of monolithic applications and legacy rails apps
• Knowledgeable in jQuery and CSS, and html
• Good understanding of database schema and schema design
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases preferred
• Core knowledge of AWS or another cloud hosting provider
• Able to debug processes within the Rails Console and identify problems and solutions
• Have written and consumed Rest APIs

 
Nice to have

• Kubernetes and Docker experience preferred
• Knowledge of React or other front end JavaScript frameworks
• Familiar with analytics services such as Data Dog or New Relic reporting. Able to troubleshoot performance problems in rails applications on both the front-end UI and API performance issues.
• Experience with microservices, preferably in Ruby 

Education and Experience

• 3+ years of experience required
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams preferred
• Experience working with Agile methodologies
• Must be comfortable working in both a team environment as well as solo
