Software Development Manager

Health One Alliance, LLC

This is a Full-time position in Irving, TX posted October 27, 2021.


The Software Development Manager is responsible to oversee the delivery of software engineering and development projects. This individual will play different roles depending on project and customer needs, including running Agile ceremonies, release planning, interfacing with customer product management, removing roadblocks from individuals or between teams, and participating in architecture and design processes. Leading day to day activity of software developers, to interfacing and coordinating activity between customer project teams, as well as supporting integration business development activities. In addition to customer facing work, this individual will also engage in internal integration activities such as technical pre-development evaluation and training process for new software development talent. The ideal candidate will have experience with hands on software engineering, has remained current with understanding of software development. The candidate will have the capability to understand the development activity being performed at a detailed level and provide guidance to software development teams.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Leads the development team in the design, development, coding and debugging of applications
  • Manages all activities of the software development team and set goals for each team member to ensure timely project delivery
  • Participates in the hiring process including candidate screens and interviews
  • Trains new developers
  • Establishes development standards and provides guidance to the team and ensures adherence to development standards
  • Assigns development resources and creates timelines for development projects
  • Keeps up to date with the latest development software
  • Performs code reviews with team members
  • Creates new processes and improves existing processes
  • Collaborates with QA, Product Management, and Architectural teams
  • Recommends strategies for complex technical problems
  • Runs Agile ceremonies and maintains development backlog for integration-delivered development projects, including Sprint Planning, Standups, Grooming, and Retrospectives
  • Leads development teams as a primary point of customer escalation: assists with team customer onboarding, interfacing, and driving roadmap between development teams and other customer projects, works with customer leadership to remove roadblocks, ensuring timelines are met, interfacing with PI leadership to escalate issues
  • Recognizes gaps in customer capabilities where integration can help to add value or accelerate customer initiatives and surfacing those opportunities to support business development
  • Participates in business development activities for development-based projects, acts as a subject matter expert to help craft future engagements
  • Participates in the talent development process, providing input to training plans for different resource types
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Consistently demonstrates compliance with HIPAA regulations, professional conduct, and ethical practice
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility
  • Works to encourage and promote Company culture throughout the organization – waiting on this to be approved
  • Other duties as may be assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of professional software development experience
  • Minimum with three (3) years of software development management experience
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in Microsoft .NET framework technologies and products used in the industry
  • Originate new products in concert with customer needs and business model
  • Responsible to provide leadership for the design, development, implementation and support of software development solutions
  • Oversees programming development initiatives including detailed analysis and design, testing, documentation and follow-up support

Physical, Mental, Environmental & Working Conditions

Moderate amount of walking, sitting, and writing. Moderate to significant amount of stress in meeting deadlines and dealing with day-to-day events in the execution of job duties. Needs flexibility and adaptability to change. Candidate must be self-disciplined and a self-starter and able to work independently with a flexible work schedule. Must be able to drive a vehicle and daytime/overnight travel as required.
