SVP, Software Engineering TAA North America

This role is responsible for the application development, quality assurance and release management of our tax and accounting cloud and legacy desktop software platforms, solutions and product lines across the North America business segments that enable over 800M of annualized revenue across the business. With a focus on delivering high quality, highly scalable, and performant software applications in the public cloud (today Microsoft Azure), actively promotes and ensures more efficient models of product exploration and quality development through an API first and services-oriented framework creating faster velocity, higher quality, consumer grade user experience and an agile and talented workforce that can be shifted amongst priorities. Essential Duties and responsibilities Develop the multi-year technology strategy and annual operational plan for our cloud-based tax and accounting software platforms and product lines as well as the maintenance of legacy on-premise software. In conjunction with Product Management, understand our market needs and user requirements. Oversee the development and execution of cloud-based technology roadmap to assure products delight our customers and prospects, are highly scalable, performant, and delivers to the market on-time within budget and at high quality standards. Lead all efforts related to the evaluation of emerging technologies and innovation, including the use of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain and Robotic Processing capabilities to create frictionless customer experiences. Foster a culture of operational excellence that delivers with velocity and quality to drive great customer interaction with our products. Is a leader in establishing best in class processes, governance and controls aligned with agile, lean, SCRUM, and SAFe methodologies. Lead quarterly capacity planning to assure North America priorities (both functional and technical) have been resourced and have measurable KPI’s to make incremental investment recommendations. Lead continuous improvement initiatives in estimation modeling for both short-term and long-term projects. Work with Wolters Kluwer and Tax and Accounting technology shared services organizations to assure the technology, infrastructure and data centers meet product resiliency, scalability, performance and security requirements. Provide clear and timely communication to executive staff, project management, product management and sales regarding product delivery status, opportunities for innovation and accelerated growth, and overall organizational effectiveness. Develop human capital strategy to assure we have the right engineering and technology talent for delivering cloud solutions to meet current and future market demands. Generate and articulate a clear view of the future and steps to get there by inspiring passion and excitement around shared goals and values. Promote and instill a high performing and engaging team culture that acquires, develops and retains talent at all levels within the organization and fosters talent management initiatives. Develop and effectively manage the financial budget for all expenses (including capitalization) associated with the exploration, design, development and implementation of our platform and product lines. Qualifications Education Technicalengineering undergraduate degree Master’s Degree is preferred Experience Minimum of 10 years of executive technology leadership experience in optimizing organizational capabilities of 500+ employees with a focus on native cloud development while understanding the transformation needs of legacy desktop solutions. Minimum of 10 years of experience in building organizations with strong technical and engineering skills with an emphasis in native cloud developed applications. Advanced experience and management building solutions with a service-oriented approach to design and implementation in the public cloud (e.g. 247 stability, performance, scalability, instrumentation and monitoring). Demonstrated success in shipping cloud based always-on commercial or consumer software with highly transactional tenants, ideally in a regulated industry. Advanced experience in modern cloud based architectural design patterns, including micro services-based architectures. Advanced experience in agile code integration and deployment approaches and models. Deep design and delivery experience for a portfolio of products of multi-tier SaaS products with web-based, plugin-based, and mobile-based clients on the Microsoft C.NETSQL Server Microsoft technology stack. Demonstrated experience and success in cross-group collaboration models to design and deliver multi-tier architectural products and services. Accomplished range of skills ranging from detailed analysis to high-level strategy. Personal passion for (and early adopter of) emerging technologies, committed to learning and expanding professional and technical knowledge. Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and resourceful in achieving success in the face of ambiguity while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule trade- offs and opportunistic new ideas with commercial and technical employees. Experience building successful FTE OffshoreISV, co-located Agile team models, including SAFe. Demonstrated experience and success in building and optimizing active governance and capacity planning to deliver results in a matrix organization. Advanced verbal, written communications and presentation skills to all organizational levels and the external market. Highly engaging leadership style. Thorough understanding of financial concepts including revenue projections, costing, budgeting, etc. Continuous and agile learner – early adopter of technologies, operational best practices, researching and applying leadership best practices, etc. Travel requirements Up to 40 overnight travel (both domestic and international).
