Tableau Developer – Software Engineer

Corporate Risk technology has embarked on an ambitious Risk Transformation program and as part of that we are looking for a Software Engineer who will be responsible for partnering with the key business stakeholders, technology managers and project leads to create data visualization solutions. You will be part of Calculation Services technology group that is responsible for building computing platform that enable Risk and Finance related computations for regulatory and forecasting requirements. The platforms manage large volumes of data backed by Big Data technologies, and provide compute capabilities for large datasets and complex models. It also provides capabilities for analyzing the inputs and outputs of the models.

Key duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to:

  • Good understanding of big data/Hadoop and data structures such as parquet, text/csv, relational, dimensional. Ability to leverage measures and dimensions for Tableau report/dashboard development
  • Good understanding of open source solutions for query acceleration for data in the cluster, such as Apache Arrow and their usage in vendor product Dremio. Ability to leverage these solutions.
  • Dremio architecture and capabilities, coordinator and executors and performance parameters set/tuned in configuration.
  • Dremio entitlements framework and impersonation for accessing data from various data sources, within the cluster and outside
  • Good understanding of Dremio reflections, ability to leverage reflections for Tableau dashboard development in Tableau Server environment
  • Good understanding of Tableau Server environment and its working in an integrated platform that also supports query acceleration tools such as Dremio. Ability to setup server projects, entitlements, connection to HDFS/Hive for report/dashboard development.
  • Good understanding of Tableau capabilities for report/dashboard promotion from dev to prod
  • Version Management of reports/dashboards in Tableau Server environment and integration with GitHub
  • Able to manage the Tableau reports generation/distribution via server

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Tableau reports, visualization dashboards and data exploration
  • 2+ years of experience on tableau server, entitlements, connection to HDFS/Hive and project setup
  • 1+ years of experience with Dremio and Dremio reflections
  • 1+ years of experience with defining and building virtual cubes with AtScale

Desired Qualifications

  • An industry-standard technology certification
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Tableau reports/dashboards version management on GitHub
  • Knowledge and understanding of Dremio architecture, capabilities and entitlements framework
  • Knowledge and understanding of big data (Hadoop) environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Data Models, ERD, Dimensional Models and Metadata
  • Knowledge and understanding of banking, finance and risk domain
