Research Data Coordinator

It is one of the nation’s original three comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute.Manages and Conducts Data Collection 1.Carries out day to day operations of assigned protocols and research studies.2.

Interfaces closely with clinical staff, faculty, and research personnel in the Section of Speech Pathology and Audiology and the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck team to ensure timely and accurate collection of research data.3.

Performs data entry, maintains records, and organizes materials using designated forms and databases.

Prepare, file sort, digitize, and convert clinical examination videos for functional analysis.4.

Serves as a liaison with collaborative teams for project management and database needs.5.

Ensures timely submission of regulatory and protocol requirements for human subjects’ research in the Section.6.

Follows and develops processes to minimize duplication of data collection efforts with other clinical programs or complementary studies.7.

Maintains records and schedules for the timely submission of reports.

Prepares reports for sponsor or other governing bodies.8.

Ensures database maintenance/accurate queries with the assistance and oversight of Clinical Studies Supervisor.9.

Tracks patient information, maintains database files, and completes all assigned data forms for protocol research.10.

Attends and prepares for weekly project meeting with Project Lead/Principal Investigator.

Attends weekly Head & Neck Planning Conferences when requested.

Attends Section and Departmental Staff Meetings when requested.11.

Meets routinely with faculty and Clinical Studies Supervisor to review, organize, and prepare research data toward the goal of scientific presentation and publication.12.

Assist with Training and/or orientation of new staff to the department and to clinical research procedures/processes.

Serve as a resource for personnel.Recruitment and Participant Activities 1.

Screens and enrolls patient’s eligible patients to research protocols, including taking informed consent in accordance with federal regulations.2.

Coordinates patients’ schedules with assistance of research and clinical personnel to ensure follow-up appointments according to protocol schedules.

Ensures accurate longitudinal tracking of patients on all assigned studies.3.

Act as liaison with patients, families, physicians and other personnel.


Conducts primary data collection including chart review, PRO questionnaire administration, patient interviews, and patient examinations as needed in accordance with protocols and manuals of procedures.5.

Prepares study intervention materials for participants.Academic Contributions 1.Participates in preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, grants, and lecture presentations with Project Lead/PI and faculty in the Section of Speech Pathology and Audiology.2.

Completes literature reviews and summary of selected topics for discussion and presentation at section meetings and seminars.3.

Provide other clinical or research duties assigned by the Project Lead/Principal Investigator, Clinical Studies Supervisor, or manager.4.

Participates in additional program/research related activities as requested.

Education Required:High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree Experience Required:Two years of related experience.
