Scope/Purpose of the Position
The Packaging Line Conductor is responsible for the final production process of packaging the product and must work and communicate cohesively with team of Operators, Baking Line Conductors, Supervisors, and members of other departments to ensure reception and delivery of final product meets quality standards in a clean and efficient manner. Also, must communicate the organization with rest of team, baking line, product changeovers, and manages team rotation and breaks. Oversee the functions of equipment, material usage, and lot number tracking to ensure process flow is not compromised and production goals are met. Ensures quality, accurate production records, and maintains a sanitary work environment.
Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Must have the ability to facilitate and conduct operators to ensure that consistent and quality product flows through packaging to finished product packaging to meet OEE goals of your shift.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of production and quality documentation.
- Oversight of the bakery area, maintain continuous work, and address any employee, product, or equipment needs to supervisor.
- Create a culture of inclusion and engagement.
- Establish and develop strong professional relationships with production operators, supervisors, and management at all levels.
- Facilitates and communicates well in interdepartmental collaboration toward shared company goals.
- Communicates with Supervisor regarding Operator shortage and cross trains to maximize production line coverage and reduce downtime. Notifies all safety and quality concerns immediately to Supervisor or member of management team.
- Monitors and enforces Safety, Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices, and SOPs to ensure adherence to all quality requirements included in the HACCP program and Quality Assurance.
- Monitors and enforces proper PPE and attire at all times including but not limited to uniforms, gloves, safety shoes, dust masks and others that may be required.
Back Up
The Production Supervisor is the backup when the Packaging Line Conductor is absent.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong Interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills within your team and across departments
- Experience in food manufacturing preferred, baking experience preferred
- 1-2 years’ experience as a production lead or entry level management position a plus
- Complies with FDA, OSHA, and all other regulatory agencies while complying with Good Manufacturing Practices and a Quality Assurance team
- Must possess and demonstrate time management skills to ensure production operation efficiency
- Ability to operate machinery, effectively complete multiple tasks multi-task, interpret and follow precise instructions
- Be proficient and accurate in changeover procedures including but not limited to tooling changes, as well as recipe changes
- Continuously observe and evaluate operations to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement
- Ability to quickly respond to changing priorities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 55 lbs.
- Complete tasks promptly and carefully
- Ability to work quickly and cleanly
- Flexible in helping all areas of operations to accommodate the continuous growth of operations
