NDE Level II Technician – UT

Overview

ALS provides a broad range of testing and analytical services to a wide variety of end markets and industries around the globe. We continue to remain at the forefront of the testing services industry, building an enviable reputation.

General Accountability:

NDE Level II-UT Technician will be responsible for ensuring that timely and quality results are produced in accordance with ALS and client specific procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Non-Destructive Examinations (“NDE”).
  • Interpret, evaluate and document results.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and overall equipment and jobsite upkeep.
  • Understand and follow the company/client quality and safety procedures, applicable codes, and acceptance criteria pertaining to the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required and submitted with application.
  • 1 – 3 years of NDE experience is preferred and supporting documentation of previous certification, OJT, and classroom training is to be submitted with application or available upon request.
  • Tank inspection experience preferred.
  • Must know how to pit gauge and evaluate a tank bottom, shell courses and weld defects.
  • Be knowledgeable and certified in MFL under API 653 Annex G using MFE or Silver-wing mapping equipment.
  • Experienced in manual UT scans in the critical zone and MFL findings.
  • Have experience in settlement surveys per API 653, Annex B.
  • Be knowledgeable in drawing tank bottoms and IFR or EFR layouts.
  • Auto-cad experience a plus.
  • PMI experience is a plus.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Familiar with NDE codes, standards and other contractual documents.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports.
  • Be a good citizen and able to pass an FBI background check, drug/alcohol test and other pre-employment testing.

Work Conditions:

The job is subject to various weather conditions both inside and outside environments in various industries such as nuclear site, petrochemical and oil refineries. There may be some confined spaces work and working at heights. Conditions are often very hot and dirty.

Physical Demands:

Must be in good physical condition to deal with the stress of working under the adverse work conditions described above. Candidate cannot have a fear of heights or tight spaces. Physical and visual activities include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stepping, crawling, reaching, twisting, bending, handling, and laying on back as needed. Duties often include carrying heavy equipment (>50 lbs) far distances, up, and down multiple flights of stairs. Must be able to support own weight in roped safety harness. Able to work 40-80 hours a week. May be required to drive a company vehicle pulling a trailer to and from job sites.
