After School Group Leader – SAISD

YMCA of Greater San Antonio

This is a Full-time position in San Antonio, TX posted July 13, 2021.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

With general guidance of the Program Director, the Teens Coordinator supervises and manages the daily operations of a Y Teens program.

The coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with school district personnel (i.e.

principal, teachers).

Will adhere to the child care policies and the goals of the YMCA, and directs each site in accordance with the mission statement of the YMCA of San Antonio and the standards of all regulatory agencies.OUR CULTURE:Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture.

We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Attend and facilitate clubs (during school, after school, and Saturdays) for Y Achievers and Youth and Government at assigned site.* Collect enrollment forms, conference registration form, survey assessments.* port campus with program updates and curriculum plans.* Attend required program conferences.* orks with volunteers who serve as club mentors such as teachers and lawyers.* Manages and supervises the staffing of each site to include assisting with time management and payroll approval.* Implements and supervises an ongoing developmentally appropriate activity program/curriculum at each site.* Conducts on-the-job training as needed and assists the Y Teens Program Administrative staff in all training events.* Implements and supervises the health and safety/risk management program for each site.* Secures and maintains all resources and supplies necessary for all daily site operations.* Implements and supervises all administrative and recordkeeping procedures of each site.* Plans and implements meetings with site staff and volunteers as necessary, to keep staff informed on all site management issues.* Assures the site personnel use appropriate discipline techniques and assists staff in solving any problems.* Acts as a liaison between the YMCA / Y Teens program and school district personnel, program participants and regulatory agency representatives.* Meets as needed with participants and their families to assess the program’s ability to meet the needs of the children and to resolve any problems.* Meets periodically with school district personnel to evaluate the ongoing operations of the program and the school / YMCA partnership; attempting to avoid and/or resolve any problems relative to usage, programming and daily operations.* Supervises and participates in all regulatory inspections and works in consultation with Y Teens Program Administrative staff to correct any ‘non-compliances’ to regulatory standards.* Assists in the promotion of the program and all other YMCA events.* Assists with required program reporting for the YMCA and sponsoring agencies for assigned site(s).* Adheres to the child care policies and the goals of the YMCA, and directs each site in accordance with the mission statement of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, and the standards of all regulatory agencies.* Performs all other assigned duties as requested by the Y Teens Program Administrative staff and attends all staff meetings and training sessions.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:* Inclusion* Communication & Influence* Developing OthersQUALIFICATIONS:* Must be 18 years of age and with at least 6 months of childcare experience.* A High School Diploma or GED is required.

A Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, Behavioral Science, or related field is preferred.* Must be at least 21 years of age.* 1-2 years experience working with teens is preferred.* Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.* Must have the ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.* Previous experience with diverse populations.

Ability to develop positive, authentic relationshipswith people from different backgrounds.* Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships by promoting caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with staff, YMCA members, and program participants.* Incumbent must be a positive role model to children and display emotional maturity and stability at all times.* Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, Appropriate Touch, Defensive Driving, and Hazardous Communications.* Previous experience in building positive, authentic relationships with diverse populations.* A valid driver’s license is required as well as capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* Work is performed in an active environment.* Incumbent must have the ability to communicate with staff, children and parents.* This position requires high levels of attention and alertness.* Visual acuity is required for child supervision.* Repetitive stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time is required, as well as, the ability to run and be able to participate in sports.* Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
