Asset Integrity Engineer

Duration: Long-Term Contract Assignment

Location: Houston, TX

Rate: $90-$100 per hour

 

The Asset Integrity Engineer reports to the Asset Integrity and Reliability Manager and is a seasoned technical professional with a broad understanding of the issues faced in designing, operating, and maintaining hydrocarbon processing facilities. The Asset Integrity Engineer participates in developing and overseeing the Asset Integrity Management Program, and supports local technical teams at multiple facility locations. Actively participates in continuous improvement of asset integrity programs including RBI, ensuring that Asset Integrity is integrated into new projects through development of industry recognized programs, providing operational support to all assets and assisting in the trouble shooting of major asset problems as required.

Strong background in Asset Integrity programs including inspection methodologies and nondestructive testing, understands hazard evaluation, project implementation, engineering information management, plant operations, risk assessment and plant maintenance.  Preference may be given to candidates familiar with all facets of LNG transportation, storage and processing, including health, safety, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. In-depth knowledge of technical processes, project and design engineering; inspection programs, quality assurance/control; corrosion control; equipment performance testing; vibration analysis and equipment troubleshooting.

Responsibities and Essential Duties:

 

  1. Lead or participate in the development and implementation, under the supervision of the Asset Integrity Manager, of the Asset Integrity Management Program for multiple sites.
  2. Ensure that the long and short-term fit-for-purpose is maintained for all equipment / systems and act as the liaison with all involved disciplines.
  3. Participate in the development and conduct relevant asset integrity training programs to provide information to site teams so they can anticipate major repairs or replacement.
  4. Lead or participate in the implementation and coordination of inspection programs for all assets.
  5. Lead or participate in the development and oversee the management of the Mechanical Integrity, Corrosion Management Programs for multiple sites, including Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI).
  6. Lead or participate in the development and implementation of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Programs to improve asset integrity with a focus on safety and production.
  7. Lead or participate in development of a Quality Management Standard and supporting quality assurance, control processes and management plans.
  8. Participate in the development and deployment of continuous improvement programs for multiple sites incorporating overall strategy and applicable codes and specifications.
  9. Participate in the resolution of all issues, which have potential to impact asset integrity, including equipment/hardware, process/procedures, operational business systems, verification / assurance and personnel competency.
  10. Participate as required in troubleshooting efforts and applies Root Cause Analysis (RCA) practices to equipment failure investigations.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Education and Certifications:  Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Engineering, or Metallurgy preferred. A Professional Engineer’s (PE) License is desired.
  2. Experience: 10 years of experience in an LNG, liquefaction, gas processing, refining, or chemical industry. Recent experience will be in Asset Integrity.  Additional experience should include RBI, integrity engineering, process safety, safety management systems, plant operations/maintenance, equipment inspection, corrosion control/management, RCFA, incident investigation and risk assessment. 
  3. Experience:  Strong technical abilities are required along with the following additional skills.
    • An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
    • Familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
    • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries and governmental agencies. 
    • Able to share knowledge and mentor less experienced employees.
    • Familiar with and understanding of relevant industry regulations, codes and standards.
    • Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate and maintain the LNG terminal and Liquefaction production facilities.
    • Ability to work in a “self-directed” environment and consistently anticipate the needs within the organization and deliver on time.
    • Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with management, peers and the various facility level workers (plant management, plant supervision and plant workers) whom are all responsible for ensuring safe and reliable operations.
    • Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines. 
    • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Computer savvy including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint) and electronic tools such as AutoCAD, IDMS/PCMS and RBI software.
