Assistant General Counsel – Labor & Employment

Responsibilities Peraton is seeking an experienced attorney to join our legal team.

The successful candidate will join Peratons Legal Department and report directly to the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Employment Law.

This attorney will serve as primary labor and employment counsel for the Peraton.

Responsibilities: Advise Human Resources on compliance with company practices and procedures relating to labor, employment and government contracting with federal, state and local laws and regulations, and consistency with applicable corporate policies and procedures.

Experience in managing labor and employment claims, disputes and litigation, including EEO (and state equivalent) charges, OFCCP audits and investigations and employment litigation.

Provide proactive and practical legal counsel and guidance to all business management and functional staff regarding labor, employment and government contracting legal matters including federal, state and local legal compliance matters Advise and coordinate with the business and functional leaders on significant matters concerning labor and employment law and contract terms and conditions Maintain a high level of proficiency on current laws and implementing regulations, and coordinate with business management and functional staff to develop and deliver timely training, as appropriate.

Assist in the prevention of disputes and litigation by proactive, early involvement in employment matters and business transactions, and by conducting necessary compliance/business conduct training.

Work with outside counsel, consultants and company personnel to support government solicitation responses, contract negotiations, and dispute resolution.

Qualifications A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and valid state bar membership.

A minimum of 5 years experience as counsel (law firm or in house) focused on labor and employment matters.

Relevant experience navigating labor and employment matters specific to federal, state and local government contracting, including experience supporting employment issues related to OCONUS contracting.

Exceptional organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.

Excellent oral and written communications skills.

The ability and interpersonal skills to effectively function as an integral member of the Legal and business management teams.

Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume workload with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, collegial environment.
