The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston is seeking a Banquet Houseperson to join our team.

What you can expect to do:
Exhibit conduct in accordance with Federal and State laws and regulations, and the Post Oak Hotel and departmental policies and procedures.Consistently deliver positive, courteous and professional service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors and fellow colleagues.Provide consistently friendly and efficient service at all times, anticipating guests needs and requests.Set up banquet meal functions as prescribed by the Banquet Event order.Set tables, chairs, dance floors and staging according to the instructions from the Captain, Banquet Manager or the Banquet Director.Provide prompt and professional service during banquet functions.

Ensures that guest safety is of paramount consideration in the set-up of the room and in the arrangement and performance of all banquet set up needs.Is familiar with the banquet rooms, storage areas and back of the house.If appropriate, assist guest, clients and meeting planners with changes and movements.Is aware of all functions and activities in the Hotel during the shift.Attend to guest complaints and requests promptly and refers them to the immediate Supervisor.Ensure that tables, chairs, linens and banquet items are clean and kept in immaculate condition.Ensure that Meeting room waters, candies, pads and pens are set properly.Clear tables, chairs, linens, staging, podiums and all set up items upon conclusion of the events.Refresh all banquet rooms when needed during breaks of the events.Reset all of the Banquet rooms for the following day.Maintain cleanliness of function equipment, Housemen stations and banquet benches and surfaces.Handle equipment with care to avoid accidents, breakage’s and damage.Collect requisitioned food and beverage items from the store rooms and checks accuracy of the order quantities and expiry dates.Collect linen after completing the Linen Requisition and adheres to the Laundry Departments schedules.Perform any other duties as requested by the Captain, Banquet Manager or the Banquet Director.

Display strong work ethic and team work.Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.Demonstrate a commitment to assisting as a server during large plated banquet function.Assist in moving of furniture, boxes, restaurant equipment and outlet restaurant areas as needed or required by the Director of Banquets, Banquet Manager or Director of Food and BeveragePerform other duties as assigned.Ability to read and understand all policies and procedures.Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in English, specific to position duties and responsibilities.Must be able to complete standard forms and reports.Ability to work independently.

Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays is required.Ability to deliver a service level which creates an atmosphere that makes our guests want to return, giving each guest a positive, memorable experience.Commitment to routinely go above and beyond in the accomplishment of position responsibilities in an effort to play a role in the achievement of organizational goals.Must present an image of excitement and enthusiasm, while being able to project a professional appearance and demeanor.Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
