Business and Data Analytics Executive

This is a Full-time position in CASTLE HILLS, TX posted June 2, 2021.

Purpose of Job

Data & Analytics Jobs that are part of a community have unique requirements established to maintain consistent application, usage and reporting structure. Responsible for the development and implementation of multiple Data and Analytics sub-functions within a Bank that may include: Information Strategy, Information Delivery Analytics, Decision Science Analytics, and Data Infrastructure Support. Leads, develops, coordinates, and ensures the implementation of first line of defense risk and controls priorities to ensure data is captured and accurately provisioned for use. Develops risk mitigation strategies and controls, and partners with and engages with Business Risk & Controls leaders. Serves as a liaison providing leadership and direction to ensure processes and procedures are in place to effectively use data to monitor and manage risk.

Job Requirements

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role. 
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled. 
  • Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities. 
  • Responsible for strategic, tactical, operational, and financial responsibilities associated with Bank data storage, data preparation, data exploration, information governance, analytics, and information delivery.
  • Leads the strategy of the sub-functions by establishing and executing a vision for the delivery of information and analytics platforms and solutions to the business’ key stakeholders and cross-Bank partners.
  • Responsible for successful end to end process of information management, analytics and delivery.
  • Provides thought leadership and participate in developing talent across the USAA Data and Analytics Community.
  • Keeps current of industry leading practices and advances in data and analytics as well as the business associated with the assigned Bank.
  • Leads the team(s) in the development of new techniques and best practices that deliver effective reporting/analytics to meet goals and objectives that align to strategy.
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation of processes and procedures within a Bank in adherence with Information Governance policy and standards. 
  • Responsible for the development of a successful team’s training/education plans, automated systems, technical tools, staffing/organizational requirements, and expense budget.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering or other quantitative field (e.g. finance or a social/behavioral science). 
  • 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years data and analytics related experience, driving results in a complex financial services organization.
  • 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of measuring business outcomes, business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.
  • Experience leading projects using Agile methodologies.
  • Experience conducting large scale data analysis using internal and external data to support business decision making.
  • Proven ability to tell a story through data and communicate effectively with senior leadership. 
  • Ability to understand business requirements, KPIs and convert into analytical hypothesis in a structured and logical manner along with solution identification. 
  • Experience with large complex database systems & architecture, structured & unstructured data; with diverse analytics methodologies and approaches; expert ability to connect data/metrics to business metrics/results.
  • Deep understanding of risk management and compliance practices with experience developing data strategies that mitigate risk.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 years Banking/Financial Services experience.
  • 6 years of experience leading data/advance analytics teams supporting two or more of the following (Bank Controls, Compliance, Risk, Fraud, Operations, Audit).
  • Experience partnering with IT to execute project using an Agile methodology (e.g., SAFe).
  • Strong visualization skills; experience with tools/platforms such as Hadoop, Netezza, Snowflake, Salesforce, Tableau, Python, R.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various Bank product originations and services (Mortgage, Credit Card, Deposits, Home Equity, etc.).
  • Ability to successfully lead and affect change in a matrixed work environment.
  • Strong technical writing, executive-level presentation, and proactive communication skills.

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is $135,200.00 – 243,500.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.

Stipend: As an EMG Member, you will receive an annual stipend (amounts determined by level) which will be paid in quarterly installments.
