Chemical Plant Emergency Dispatcher


This is a Full-time position in Houston, TX posted May 28, 2021.

Job DescriptionEmergency Dispatcher (SOC)

– $18.00/HRPosition OverviewThis position is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls for service over the telephone and radio, employing appropriate patrol and/or emergency equipment.

Use call screening protocols and responding to those calls by dispatching the appropriate resources and documenting the call.

This position is responsible for interaction with other facilities around the world and engaging with outside agencies reporting incidents.

This position is responsible for observing and reporting to the appropriate teams for the facility’s gas detection and gas monitoring systems.

This position is responsible for monitoring and relaying any suspicious activity seen on CCTV.

This position is responsible for maintaining and processing access request for the facility.Essential Functions & Responsibilities* Performing duties to include protecting company assets and security threats.* Activating site emergency system to include fire, spills, gas release, rescue, security incidents and medical emergencies.

Along with activation comes maintain a call for each type of emergency that requires a patrol officer to be checked out on.

Until all officers/units clear the dispatcher will coordinate with the on-scene commander and update call, as necessary.* Activate the Crisis Management and Transportations Distribution Incident Centers on a Global company-wide scale.

This includes notification to the on-call personnel, and email to be sent with specific guidelines and update information.* Monitoring and operated dispatch, communication, emergency notification, security monitoring and fire hazard system.

Respond accordingly to Lyondell policy, and maintain CAD call for each event.* Project administration skills necessary to implement processes and procedures* Advance use of computers to prepared and complete reports, perform data entry and operate access control systems.* Monitoring and operating dispatch, communication emergency notification system.* Highly effective verbal and written communication: ability to work effectively with regulatory, law enforcement and emergency response organizations.

The Security Operations Center is modeled after a police officer dispatching department.* Ability to perform in emergency or stressful conditions* Multitask in a high phone-call and dispatch radio console environment* Work rotating shift and respond to emergency call outs and overtime needs (overtime work is required)* Ability to pass mock drills during training, and after training.* Must have great customer service and leadership skills when dealing with clients/company personnel as well as assisting entry level gate officers.* Able to stay on site for extended time frame multiple days in a row for emergency situations.

(Security Threat, Hurricane, Severe Weather ECT).Qualifications and Skills Requirements* High School Diploma (or equivalent).* Valid Driver’s License* Ability to type at a rate of 40WPM.* Successfully complete a 6-to-8-week training and certifications for call receiving and dispatching.* Learn to operate a variety of technology including contemporary computer, radio and telephone systems.* Work independently with minimal supervision.* Work in an environment where multiple activities are routinely underway that influence the performance of the duties assigned.* Coordinate multiple priorities and competing demands on time.* Simultaneously process information from multiple sources (verbal, text, and video) and keep information clear.* Quickly and accurately recall information, specifically names, numbers and details.* Make appropriate decisions based on minimal information.* Deal with sensitive information in a discreet and professional manner.* Follow prescribed rules, regulations and procedures.* Recall details and record information/numbers quickly and correctly.* Communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.* Work collaboratively and cooperatively with co-workers and personnel from customer agencies.* Be able to work in a shift-work environment with variable hours of work and schedule over the course of typical work year.* Present ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.* Be reliable, and highly dependable in reporting for work on time and as scheduled, on a consistent basis.* Be available for overtime as needed.* Knowledge call handling practices for all calls with an emphasis on professionalism and high level of customer service.* Basic office skills, including Windows based PC applications.
