Chief Technology Officer


This is a Full-time position in Dallas, TX posted May 30, 2021.

The Chief Technology / Innovations Officer at Dallas College is responsible for leading and supporting initiatives that contribute to the vibrancy, growth, and economic stability of Dallas County for future generations, with primary emphasis in technology to promote student success
– through a demonstrated understanding of current systemic challenges, a demonstrated skill for futures planning, and the ability to energize others in building out the necessary systems, technological and organizational, to support the desired outcomes.

Using a broad-based understanding of “the business of higher education” lead the District in designing student-centered personalized learning models and complementary administrative application models through technology.

Serving as a resident futurist in developing technology models that are conceptually sound, financially feasible, and organizationally sustainable.

Building internal and external relationships to facilitate the necessary alliances and partnerships among colleagues, other faculty and staff, vendors, business and industry leaders to identify and implement workable solutions to challenges faced by students in attaining their educational goals and economic aspirations.

Maintaining the highest level of understanding related to the current and global state-of-the-market technology.

Participating in a wide array of collaborative and strategic discussions with the Chancellor, District administrators, and College presidents to further the progress of the District and its colleges in meeting desired goals and designing effective solutions.

Organizing and presenting thoughtful facts and persuasive arguments to achieve desired goals with diverse audiences.

Making data-informed decisions, ethically and strategically to satisfy short and long-term goals.

Designs and executes a staffing plan to meet requirements through selection, training, and supervision of assigned staff.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, push, lift, reach, carry, grasp, squat or stoop, bend and twist the body while performing essential duties, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk or hear.

The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.

Education and Experience
Master’s degree required.

Five to ten years of progressive experience, including three years of upper level administrative experience in a comparable position, requiring supervision of individuals with varying responsibilities.

Demonstrated experience in identifying appropriate staffing plans to deliver results.

Demonstrated leadership in a complex, multi-million dollar organization.

Demonstrated experience in managing large complex projects with an understanding of effective change management strategies.

Demonstrated experience in oral and written communications confirming the ability to effectively research, organize and persuade diverse audiences, internal and external to the college and system.

Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
