El Programa Hispano Catlico (EPHC) is an organization that supports individuals to live to one’s fullest potential.

This is achieved through the following program areas: Housing, Economic Opportunity, Education, Community Wellness and DV/SA Prevention and Intervention.

Today, EPHC serves more than 20,000 people annually and employs more than 80 staff members, all of whom are bilingual and over 92% are bicultural as well.

Communications SpecialistDepartment: DevelopmentFull-time Position (40 hrs a week) ExemptReports to: Director of DevelopmentPOSITION SUMMARY:The Communications Specialist will join collaborative professionals who are passionate about bringing EPHC’s mission to life via equity and community engagement.

Together we support a rapidly growing organization with a current operating budget in the $9 million-dollar range.

We innovate, risk, learn and refine core practices.

We value relationships and storytelling to shape EPHC into a space where donors can actively engage to remove social determinant of health barriers faced by the Latinx and BIPOC communities.

We believe philanthropy should be a calling to all in our community and we work to invite others into our mission through storytelling, stewardship, and community engagement.PRINCIPLE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Gather impact stories from programs to share in marketing materials and with donors.Support strategy, planning and execution for communication plans, major campaigns, and initiatives related to media relations, organizational communication, community relations, and social media.Interview experts on a variety of subjects for print and video pieces.

Content creation, including graphic design and videographer skills.

Photography for internal publications, social media channels and website.Respond to public queries/provide information via social media channels and website.Managing multiple projects at a time.Gather user data from technology platforms and share trends and insights with team.Writing and compiling content for newsletters, social media channels and websites.

Utilizing content management systems/social platform management dashboards to publish to social media, website, and internal communications platforms.Actively participate in El Programa Hispano activities.

Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field.

Demonstrated writing and editing excellence.Demonstrated community, social service and/or equity experience.Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.

Personal living/lived experience of systemic inequity/oppressionProficient in all Microsoft Office productsMust be able to organize/prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and have a high attention to detail Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.

Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.

Ability to work well both independently and in team setting; adapt well to dynamic work environment.Competencies in desktop publishing skills and graphic production and design (Experience Creative Suite programs), PreferredMust have driver’s license, access to vehicle and automobile insurance at levels required by agency (100/300/100).
