Data Migration Engineer


This is a Full-time position in Austin, TX posted February 4, 2021.

Job Description:

Essential Job Functions

  • Create a plan of all activities and tasks required to populate the new solutions with all current and historical data necessary for the correct operation of the solutions.
  • Develop associated resource and budget requirements to implement the plan within the framework and constraints of the overall program plan and project plans.
  • Monitor and report progress of the data migration plan at project level.
  • Identify if there are issues and risks for the data migration activities.
  • To identify mitigation plan for the risk discovered.
  • Manage and co-ordinate activities for the ETL engineers to perform the data migration.
  • Design a quality management scheme and plan for data migration activities including validation of loaded data to ensure the maximum efficiency and accuracy of data populated within the new solution.
  • Create and maintain a progress tracker for all data migration activities and stages.
  • Presentation of plans and progress to project and program boards. Work with the Architecture and the PMO team to develop and document a standard data migration approach.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of support services, project, or program experience
  • Experience working with the technology industry
  • Experience working with company products and operating systems

Other Qualifications

  • Data modelling and analysis techniques. Credibility and integrity.
  • Possess good understanding and hands on experience in ETL tools.
  • Positive and open in communication.
  • Design and develop data extract and load scripts.
  • Creative approach to solve problems using professional knowledge, where situations are complex and unique and information is limited.
  • Validation of developed scripts. Proactive, takes action and anticipates opportunities.
  • Master data management within a service orientated architecture.
  • Analytical in approach to acquire knowledge and information.
  • Good knowledge in Databases – Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with SQL queries
  • Experience in executing data migration from multiple legacy systems preferred
