Hydrologist

AARC Environmental

This is a Contract position in Seguin, TX posted March 15, 2022.

AARC Environmental is actively seeking a junior to mid-level Hydrology Engineer or Hydrogeologist with experience in the Houston area.

This position will be based in AARC Group’s Houston Office and will assist with our other Texas and National offices.

Candidate will report directly to the VP of Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities include : Perform drainage studies, floodplain impact evaluations and design with our civil engineering group.

Evaluations, report preparation including assistance with AARC Consultants in Hydrogeology and Climate Risk assessments including sustainability and coastal communities flooding and impact analysis.

Value added support to Assist our Industrial and Municipal clients with MS4, NPDES and SPCC Plans.

Job Functions :
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, LiDAR and other software to analyze drainage basins.

• A minimum of 3 to 5-years of progressive experience with HEC RAS, other Drainage Programs, pipe sizing, determining hydraulic grade lines and retention/detention pond design based on agency criteria.

• Hydraulic studies to determine flow, velocity, and floodplain rise on large drainage basins.

• Prepare permit submittals for impacts to the 100-Year Floodplain including compensation.

• Create and finalize designs of water, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer systems using local criteria and common engineering design equations.

• Support the Civil Engineering group with grading, drainage including plan preparation, report writing and other services.

• Prepare Survey Scope of Work and submit to Surveying Consultants to accomplish your design tasks.

• Attend meetings with clients, city/county staff, metropolitan drainage groups and state agencies.

• Coastal flooding and impact analysis is a plus but not a requirement.

• Manage multiple project assignments with various deadlines through to completion within the allocated period of time and the monetary budget assigned.

• Some travel may be required.

Educational Requirements :
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Geology from an ABET accredited college or university.

• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification.

PE or PG certification is a plus.
