Job Summary
Development and Production Support of the Actuarial Systems Applications for Profit and Loss Reporting and Actuarial Forecasting. Works well as a lead developer in a team environment performing analysis, design, coding, testing and implementation of application enhancements and new functionality to support business needs. Regular and effective communication with co-workers and management.
Technical duties will include working with the following: Structure Query Language (T-SQL preferred), Relational Databases (SQL Server preferred), Microsoft Office products (including Excel), ETL tools (SSIS preferred), Reporting tools (SSRS and other) and Front-End Use Interface Development (.Net/C# preferred).
Responsibilities
1. Develop project specifications and statements of problems and procedures and convert these into a sequence of logical steps in the form of computer language code.
2. Design error identification and/or trace programs to locate and correct computer program errors.
3. Plan or direct the modification of programs to process data and solve data, database, system or report problems.
4. Locate and correct errors in complex programs; test, maintain and document the computer language code.
5. Evaluate requests for new or modified programs, systems or databases to determine feasibility, resource requirements, compatibility with current systems, and computer capabilities.
6. Develop, recommend and/or approve specifications for computer programs, databases, systems and reports.
7. Review the verification of databases, program results and reports for accuracy and completeness.
8. Confer with Manager, other Actuarial Systems staff and/or representatives of departments to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
9. Assist in the programming and implementation of various rating systems as required.
10. Provide training and respond to questions from departmental employees.
11. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, customers, etc.
12. Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.
13. Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.
14. Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Business Administration or related field OR 4 years minimum related experience in lieu of a degree.
* 6 years information technology experience working on technology systems.
* 6 years experience in a job requiring analysis with healthcare information data analysis.
* 6 years experience with SQL, Access, APL or other relational database systems tools.
* 6 years experience in system development and programming.
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
* Planning and organizational skills.
* Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
* PC proficiency to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes.
