Lead transformer tech


This is a Full-time position in Houston, TX posted June 10, 2021.

Experience required
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years? experience in assembling and testing power transformers. This includes mounting radiators, bushings, conservator tank and monitoring equipment, pressurizing transformers, performing dew point tests, filling transformers under vacuum, and performing electrical commissioning tests. Prior experience with electrical test equipment is required.
Applicants with a Bachelor?s degree in electrical engineering, with electives in power engineering or power systems, but with little or no work experience in this field will also be a good fit for this position in an entry level position.
Job Role & Responsibilities
As lead transformer technician you will be responsible for all matters related to transformer storage, installation, commissioning and testing, in local, national and international settings. You will also be responsible for recording test results and writing reports as may be required. When not performing these duties, you will be responsible for assisting team members with their tasks.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the USA without restrictions.
To excel in this role you will need:

  • 3 or more years assembling, commissioning and testing power transformers
  • Basic Electrical Theory
  • Basic computer knowledge including using Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to not only learn, but to teach as well.
  • A positive outlook and a can do attitude.

Furthermore, you must be able to

  • Lift 50lb
  • Work safely at heights
  • Operate transformer test equipment and interpret results.
  • Pressurize or pull vacuum on transformers.
  • Fill transformers with oil and operate oil processing and vacuum equipment.
  • Travel nationally and internationally as required.
  • Deal with suppliers, contractors, customers and other team members in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Follow and develop written procedures.
