Overview: Local high-end, boutique litigation firm seeks candidate with strong writing skills to work at the direction of attorneys on preparing drafts of documents including but not limited to letters, pleadings, claims, and similar items.

The ability to write with attention to detail and strong grammar/style skills are a must.

Previous legal experience may be beneficial, but is not required.

Qualifications:
No legal experience or paralegal certificate/experience necessary.

Four-year/Bachelor’s level college degree required.

Strong writing, editing, and grammar skills required.

Attention to detail required.

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word required.

General knowledge and/or ability to learn Microsoft excel, powerpoint, cloud-sharing platforms, and adobe pro preferred.

Detailed Job Description:

This is a professional writing posting and we are looking for someone who has strong copy and substantive/content editing skills.

Although not used in legal writing, familiarity with the AP style manual, the Chicago manual of style, or other similar style manuals are a plus.

Your primary job duties will be (1) editing written work product created by attorneys for substance and form; and (2) creating original written work product.

A successful candidate should have a strong interest in research, including both established research skills and the ability to learn or innovate regarding the acquisition of new research skills.

This position is best suited to self-starter who is able to manage and complete professional or complex tasks without micromanagement by a supervisor.

They will be responsible for managing the creation of written documents, the investigation of potential defendants and property descriptions, the management of an attorney’s docket, the filing and docketing of many cases at a time, and other similar tasks.

You will be working closely with an attorney that manages dozens of cases at a time.

Therefore, the ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple projects and work well under pressure.
